I'm a relatively new contributor to this mod and i'm currently doing the 3D models for the settlements of the various cultures (races) of Azeroth.

So i thought that i'd share some of the stuff i've been working on. Now a few things to keep in mind on the technical side. First that i am not an experienced modeler so if other people more versed in 3d modeling have any suggestions, i'm all ears. Second is that most of what you will see in these screenshots is still WIP. Third, my main concern while doing these was to try and make them in the same style as the vanilla CK2 models which means low poly count and low texture resolution (this also saves space and load times).

Now with that out of the way, today i'm going to post a few screens of the high/blood elf settlements.

First off we have silvermoon during the later start dates so it has the blood elf culture:

While the city itself is a high density settlement with a lot of holdings you can also see how a smaller low density one looks to the left of the image. The towers are blood elven castles and the building with the golden orb above it to the left is a temple.

Now for the Isle of Quel'Danas in an earlier start date when the culture in Quel'Thalas was still High Elven.

In the center of the island you can also see the Sunwell for which i chose not to use red or blue so it doesn't look weird when the culture on the island changes.

And as an extra a top view of the peninsula from high in the sky (keep in mind that the province ownership is not yet set for this area)

As you can see, nature itself has been changed by the influence of the Sunwell.

And that's it for today. I will post more of these in the future and if you have any criticism regarding the models themselves please let me know.

Does it have a Discord server?
If it doesn't, I would suggest making one and posting the link here since it could improve the communication between the developers and the users interested after all the forum thread is pretty much dead.
Thanks to being developed for three years, the mod seems to have more potential, supposing the mod is released someday it will probably have a significant amount of content and flavor analyzing the further posts.

We have an internal discord. The reason we haven't made it public is because none of us wants to do moderation for it.

So.
Uh,
My turn to fill the void?
All the Azeroth (continent) races have a full, working portrait cultures (and have for a while)
0.png
The other continents (Draenor, Kalimdor, Northrend and Pandaria) have some portraits done (in order of "oh but then one of X shows up in azeroth") but still need a lot of work before those places are fully populated.
1.png
The demons, faceless and elementals are done as one image static portraits since very few of them will show up but are included with the other "this race owns one or two counties" low prio list of things that probably maybe will eventually be done after the other races are done.
(and after i remake some of the older "done" stuff that are now old and i know how to do better.
2.png
Some races have A LOT of customization while others have less than half of those choiced for each bodypart (least choices in gnoll and they still have 4 choices on 7 different parts).

So a lot of work has been done (especially considering we are just two people working on it)

The bottleneck for the project as a whole at the moment is "coding" who owns what land at what point in time for starting scenarios and history.

It aint gonna go faster from people asking "when?"

At the moment its one and a half person working on it on their spare time after work.

So, uh, Help?

All you need is basic lore knowledge (or access to wowpedia) and a keyboard.

Yo I could try and help, though i don't have any experience in coding but you didn't mention that. So if you only need "All you need is basic lore knowledge (or access to wowpedia) and a keyboard" Then i could try and help.

I too can help. I have little knowledge about coding (mostly about all that is "landed_titles" files, a little bit about the cultures.txt file and even less about events)
And also I got a lot of lore knwledgs, mostly Warcraft 1/2/3 + WOW (Classic + Buirning Crusade + Litch King + Legion) + Some non game lore too

I really dont understand the point of having two separate small sized warcraft modding groups on ck2. Especially when there's so many things i see in this thread that is missing in the Guardians of Azeroth mod and vice versa.

Apparently this mod suggested the others join them and were refused. This one is taking time to create something great and not release it until it is in a fit state, meanwhile the others are happy to churn out rubbish constantly. I know which team I'd rather play the mod by.

What a petty and narrow minded remark. Both teams got very talented members and deserve the outmost respect for the work they are putting into this community. The point of what I said was that I thought that the overall quality of their work would improve if they worked together instead of spreading this already stretched modding community even thinner.

While I frown on insulting the other team, it is true that we tried to get both our teams together and were refused. So we're doing our own thing, just like we were before there were two mod projects.

Variety is good, anyway.

Think some of the newer modders are still working on it, but I feel like the real push for this ended when the other Warcraft mod released first.

Shame too because I liked the looks of how this was shaping up.
