Mods do not have installed
This is my second adventure with this title, I can not fully understand the mechanic.
It is possible that this is what is happening.
Since you have no mods that screw your game.
This mechanic is the only explanation. It was added because ppl complained that they did not want to lose research points rewarded from completing milestones.
Now you don't lose the points, but you cannot chose 1 of the 6 techs where you want the points to go. The points from the milestone reward go by random in 1 of the cheapest techs.
Also you may notice if you don't select any tech to research. If you have research points coming.
The game will start putting the points in the cheapest tech every time there is no tech selected by you. You will notice the percentage go up even if you queue of selected techs is empty.
This mechanic is specifically for the players not to lose any research points from anything.
For mods.
I suggest only the mods that show the maximum range of effect of the Triboelectric Scrubbers and the Subsurface Heaters when you are about to place them. And the dust areas of all buildings that have that when you select 1 of them or you are about to place 1 of them for building.
Also I'm not sure if there is a mod for the domes. When you click on 1 dome to show you the effect areas of all domes on the map.
These IMO are OK quality of life mods. Any other mod is possible to screw up your game. Specially with official game patches that may come in time.
