I’ve been encouraged to ask Paradox about the possibility of standing up a BATTLETECH Wiki among the other various Paradox Wikis.

I have done so and am interested in seeing this through to completion. I await a response from Paradox and am hopeful of the outcome.

I am Retired Military so my time is my own. I’ve been playing BattleTech since the Winter of ‘85/86. And I helped Kickstart BATTLETECH back in 2015.

So I have the time and inclination to help start a BATTLETECH Wiki, if we should receive permission, the site and tools to do so. Again, I am interested in standing up a BATTLETECH Wiki among Paradox’ set of Wikis.

And as always, good luck and good BATTLETECH gaming! : )

I'd definitely be interested in visiting and may be interested in contributing.
The best wiki I've found so far is https://battletech.gamepedia.com/Battletech_Wiki, but it doesn't seem to be being maintained much any more. It needs a lot of revisions for 1.8. I just contributed a lot of Flashpoint info and some vehicle info to it.
You know, the beauty of community wikis is that they can be updated by anyone. ;)

Indeed. And thank you for contributing the Flashpoint Information, that is some of the latest and greatest available on our current BATTLETECH Wiki. Thanks again.

I’ve heard from Paradox and contacted Gamepedia. There may be a window of opportunity to have the BATTLETECH Wiki migrated here to Paradox Wikis.

Here is the gist of the Admin Noticeboard thread I have drafted and submitted to Gamepedia:

“1.) Paradox hosts the BATTLETECH Forum (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/battletech.994/) and facilitates easy access to Paradox Wikis. With both the Forum and Wiki internal to Paradox, we won’t have to have outside links approved or vetted or questioned. I and others will find it much easier to promote the Wiki.

2.) Paradox Wiki hosts 20 Wikis from across the Paradox Family of Game Development Studios. They have the infrastructure and resources, along with the assistance of myself and others who would be willing to help curate a current and ever-more-authoritative Paradox BATTLETECH Wiki.

3.) And perhaps most I importantly, I believe we all want to see the BATTLETECH Wiki help the most gamers possible, especially gamers new to BATTLETECH. Our community can best thrive if we can attract and retain new and returning BATTLETECH gamers to our community. I believe the natural synergies and cross-pollination potential of a Paradox hosted BATTLETECH Forum and Wiki is best for the community and will promote future use and contributions to both the Forum and Wiki.”

All questions, comments and criticisms are of course welcome.

If my idea to migrate the BATTLETECH Wiki proves overwhelmingly unpopular, I will adjust my course of action appropriately.

I have opened a Gamepedia Admin Noticeboard thread on the possibility of migrating the Gamepedia BATTLETECH Wiki from Gamepedia to Paradox Wikis.

@Havamal, would it be permitted to post the link to this Gamepedia discussion?

If it's to a wiki article, I think its ok, if its to a forum discussion you gotta ask admin.
So in this case sounds like you gotta ask admin.

And to clarify the current situation with regard to this effort:

1.) No promises or indeed even assurances have been extended by Paradox, Paradox Wikis or Gamepedia.

2.) BATTLETECH has a Wiki at Gamepedia that predates HBS’ move to Paradox. As has been done in the past, a game’s wiki can be migrated to Paradox Wiki. It is this I am endeavoring to accomplish.

3.) Any BATTLETECH Wiki, regardless of it being hosted by Gamepedia or Paradox Wikis, requires the BATTLETECH Community’s input to remain current. As with so many things in gaming, we’ll get out of the wiki, what we put into the wiki.

4.) As I learn more from Gamepedia, Paradox Wikis and Paradox, I will keep this thread updated on my progress or lack thereof.

I like our digs here at Paradox. @MissDeliana and our marvelous Moderators strive on a continual basis to keep our BATTLETECH Forum a civil, friendly and constructive place to Meet, Greet and Share all-things-BATTLETECH.

To me, at this point in time, bringing the BATTLETECH Wiki here makes a lot of sense as I’ve outlined above.

Any and all questions, comments and constructive criticisms are welcome.

As in MissDeliana or JimJ4m?

I’ve tried a few attempts in a number of ways to contact folks at Gamepedia. So far no luck. I do expect a response but the turn-around may be a number of days or weeks yet. I’ll remain engaged on this effort.
