Some forumites have asked me to put my threads about Sasanian history in pdf format and to make them downloadable. So, here you have the link to download the first thread (The Rise of the Sasanians) in pdf format.

Thank you profusely from the bottom of my heart :) This format is so much more searchable, at least for me. It's way easier to go back and reread some bits I liked the first time around.

Thanks to you too. Even though as I was compiling it I found myself constantly wanting to rework it and do things differently, it's essentially the same work I posted in the online thread. I've only changed some of the pictures, and I've corrected spelling (including an effort towards making the spelling of Iranian and eastern words more systematic). The only chapter that I've changed and expanded considerably has been the one about the sources I've used.

Thank you for all of the hard work you've put into this. I have enjoyed your threads immensely. It's even more impressive when you had mentioned in the other thread (lost in a post somewhere) that you'd recently had a heart attack but have clearly kept working on educating us regardless. I hope your health is on the mend and a very hearty thank you again!

Thank you for your kind words. I suffered a brain stroke, not a heart attack ;) , and yes, I am on the mend. This afternoon in three hours' time I have an appontment at the hospital with my neurologist; we'll see what she says. This recovery time has actually been great to keep up on my research; otherwise my day job is very demanding and leaves me without time or energy for it.

You really ought to get this published in some way.

I wish you a speedy recovery! Dunno if this is helpful, but feel free of to ask me about MRI if you are confused by any of it :)

@Semper Victor Sorry to hear about your stroke. I hope that you recover well.

I would echo Herbert's calls to publish the work. I read through it but didn't have much to add. It would be a shame to see it only be useful to a small audience. I have a lot of experience publishing (albeit in the science and technology field) so if you want to talk about it some time I might be able to offer some advice. I expect that Herbert could support too!

Thank you. The doctor gave me really good news; I've made quite a recovery, and I've only suffered some residual loss in my left leg that perhaps can be redressed with physical therapy. I can walk (but not for more than an hour), but I can't run and going up and down stairs is difficult.

Very good work on these threads and in ultimately turning them to pdf. I wish you would be recovered soon. good luck
Thank you.

Thank you. I don't know, I really had no intention to get it published, but given the amount of insistence, perhaps I will eventually revise my decision in the future.

Thank you for this work. It has filled in an area of the world and a time period in which I had very little knowledge. The depth and breadth of your sources is impressive as is your ability to interpret and analyse and those sources, both primary and secondary. I doubt that without doing a serious level of academic analysis, suitable for a PhD or similar, I could have obtained a better level of understanding of this area than I have gained from your efforts.

Good luck on continuing your recovery.

This is amazing work (and I definitely echo the calls to publish this if you can)! Semper Victor, How long did it take you to compile all these sources together?

Thank you for your kind words. It has been a gradual work; but I began in 2017 systematically, although I already had some of the books and papers in the secondary sources from way back than that; the history of the Sasanian Empire has been a long-term interest of mine.
