So I've had some serious issues trying to get mods to download correctly either from Steam Workshop, or the Official Paradox Site. Originally, I thought it was just a launcher issue. So, I clicked "Mod Tools" and created a test mod just to see if it would show up in the list via the launcher, and it did:

And here it is, showing up in the Launcher when i click "Manage Mods"

So, whatever the problem is, it seems to be that When i subscribe to a mod, it downloads successfully from the steam workshop:

fFgqHap.jpg

And the launcher indicates that it also downloads from Paradox when I hit the "Subscribe Button":

but the mod always "Did not install correctly":

And when I double check the correct filepath to my user / paradox interactive/ CK3 / mod folder, they aren't showing up there, Even thought the test mod I created still is:

So the obvious question I have is, where the hell are they going? And why are they going there and not where they are supposed to? Every other Paradox game I have (several) downloads the mods correctly via steam workshop or paradox. Something isn't working correctly, and my suspicion is that it has something to do with CK3 specificially, and it's not just a "User error", but maybe Im wrong.

Any big brains out there that can tell me whats going on, or what Im doing incorrectly?

I see a red dot in your launcher, so I suspect it has not updated to the current version 2020.11 .
Please try this:

- exit the Steam app entirely
- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
Please attach them here.

Thank you. I followed your instructions and that fixed the problem. When the launcher reinstalled, the mods i had downloaded from steam instantly appeared in the list. Apparently I had an option selected to download the Beta client for the Paradox Launcher and that created some kind of issue with its last install.

In any case, it's working correctly now. Thanks again.

What to do for those who use Mac?

Please delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and paste in ~/Library/Application Support/ . Then run the game from the PLAY Button in Steam, to reinstall the launcher.

If that does not get the launcher running, we will need these files from that same folder:

Attach ALL .log files Found here ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
