I was planning on a sketch/spoof/thing and it should be ready within the end of the year

*Bump*

How are things going?

No change on my end, which is to be expected after the Xmas week. Still hoping for an ASAP in the new year publication date.

How are our writers doing? Any progress or xmas break all round? (I certainly haven’t done anything this past week.)

I’m the same

I’m the same

I reckon this is probably quite widespread, so assuming that people will be getting back into the swing of things after the weekend, shall we aim for the week of Monday 11th for publication?

Plus now that I’ve got my laptop back I can make fun byline graphics like in the AARlander of old. :D

I've not either other than a mock review of the year on my blog. It doesn't really touch the forum aspects though, and not very funny, so I doubt it would fit. That said, I could be up for something humorous (skit, etc) if you give me a topic. ;) Also, also that said...I'm never funny when I try to be. I tend to fall into it. So...

Now that we're in the New Year, it's high time I think to bring this home. So far we have @RossN's Vicky roundup, my article about the health of AARland, Coz's words of wisdom and a seasonal poem from @slothinator. Still in the works (hopefully?) are pieces from @Bullfilter, @diskoerekto, @HistoryDude and TBC.

What do we think – can we get something together by this time next week?

Anyone feeling stuck, feel free to PM me with any queries. I'm always available to offer my view on any ideas. :)

This stuff doesn't necessarily have to be funny. More like the option is there. We do of course already have your words of wisdom, but if you'd be up for doing something else, PM me and we can workshop it! :D

What we really need is a bit more action on the actual review front, but as you've been less heavily involved with AARland day-to-day this year, Coz, you may not feel like covering that?

Barring a radical influx of articles over the weekend, I think this is looking like it will be a slightly more motley publication than originally advertised – but that’s perfectly fine. We have a handful of really nice reflections and seasonal pieces; not so much a comprehensive review but still, hopefully, a nice way to mark 2020 in AARland.

How are people doing? Anyone out there still working on articles this weekend? To reiterate, I’m looking to get everything published early next week, ideally Monday 11. If someone has something underway that won’t be finished by then, I’m very happy to accommodate extensions if it means more articles. :)

Mine are being written

I'm still working on my Imperator overview.

Things have been busy, news distracting and nervous energy to do a piece a bit low, but I will still try to meet your deadline with something like a period newspaper report on the year in HOI3.

Obviously don’t feel obliged to force anything if the energy isn’t there, but the report sounds great and would be fantastic to have for the Review. :)

We're in business: the YeAAR in Review is now live! Go take a look at the finished article (or eight…) over here.

(@Qorten or @Mr. Capiatlist – if either of you have a moment, would you kindly lock the Review thread? Thank you. :))

This is a truly magnificent piece you've put together all of you. It was a joy to read all of it and, in reference to the various dicussion about the past, current and possible future state of AARland, I believe this piece alone is proof that AARland is very much alive and no matter in what state it is still AARland.

With that in mind I will quote Churchill: "To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often."

Those of us who inhabit AARland today should not worry about the unknown but rather light the way forward and the the guides to the future.

Any perhaps most alarmingly of all, certain aspects of the old game have been stripped down and simplified to the extent I now feel kinship with HOI veterans (and those guys are monsters).
@TheButterflyComposer I was about to write in defense of the Glorious Family of Hearts of Iron, but then I realized, yes, you're probably right!

[...] Tintin and many more come from this age.
@RossN It is Tintin's birthday today (as I recently found out and highlighted on my Instagram); three cheers for his 91st Birthday!
