So I sent my first legion off adventuring when I clicked my character to go adventure. I didn't realize it would send the legion as well, but whatever. It said he'd come back one day after learning everything he thought he needed to know.

I noticed him and the legion just sitting in my lands as a mercenary unit so I decided to hire it for a war an ally called me into. It gave me the notification that he came back to Rome now and blah blah blah, but I can't grant him citizenship status. There's no tab. He also came back with a fleet of 48 ships which is gonna be a bitch to maintain but I digress...

Is he technically still a mercenary unit? Will I ever be able to bring him and that legion back into Rome? Is he still learning his trade and I just have to wait? Or did he come back to Rome during a war as I hired him as a mercenary and it'll never change because it'll be stuck on him like this?

It says he's a foreign citizen "until the end of game" and I'd have to grant him citizenship status, but his flag thing is a Roman flag now. I just want my legion and him back as Roman.

I do not think this is working as intended.

Same problem as described here:

A thread is open in the bugs report forum:

The imperator wiki says that the character may return after 5 years, one will assume as a national citizen and not a foreign character:

Send a Office general of the ruling family off as a Mercenary maintenance.png mercenary. Might return after 5years with Wealth gold, Land combat.png a personal army, or increased Military power.png martial or Civic power.png finesse

Yes, I think that feature is currently not working correctly because it hasn't been adjusted to the new levies/legion system. Probably better to abstain from using it ATM.

From my inspection of the code, your character will likely return (but could remain); unfortunately, if he does return the legion or the units in the legion may be destroyed. I haven't confirmed this from testing in game however.

It is working correctly via the code, but perhaps its relationship with levies and legions were not thought through. The destroy unit command was likely for pre-2.0 armies or for migratory stacks.
