I'm running low on hopium canisters. If I don't make it before Imperator gets another patch I want my Steam library to be cremated in front of the temple of Jupiter and it's ashes scattered over Mare Nostrum

No, I don't think there is a direct connection to Vic being launched and Imperator being put on ice. Indirectly you could say that they chose to put on ice the least popular gsg (as much as it may griefs us). If at the end of the story this will be for the best for PDX only time will tell.

We are not plugging out your life support.
We are just halting it because we don't have enough experienced medics to treat all our patients ;)

If it's not financially profitable enough to staff a developer ghost team currently, then I don't see where the hopium is coming from. Inevitably the next future PDS games will be going into pre-production and Imperator isn't going to magically become more popular after being abandoned.

So unless Johan wants to fund dev out of pocket, I think it's pretty clear what the PDX braintrust intends with this move.

PDS has several dumpster fires burning, and the triage is to put IR on hold, until at least EU IV is reasonably sorted out. Now, both scenarios (fixing EU IV and IR resuming development) are very optimistic, but we'll see.

There was nothing that we could do about it... EU4 was a made man and Imperator wasn't. And we have to sit still and take it.

No. Vicky 3 had been in development for a long while and i think that the current status of the game is an answer to the current crisis Paradox is facing with their community. Too many games and some are facing quality issues.

Imperator died the day the people in charge of choosing the new projects in Paradox decided that making a sequel for a game a very few people in our communities wanted was a good idea. Yes, Imperator was born dead.

Then the small but very dedicated Imperator playerbase kept the game barely alive while the Devs tried to resurrect the game with their work, releasing many free patches and good content.

2.0 is literally a new game, with a new and decent start. I hope Paradox dont abandon this game and Imperator can abandon intensive care once for all.
