I've recently picked this game up in a sale and finding it very enjoyable. I thought I'd start with the tutorial, and I've got as far as owning almost all of southern Italy, having completed most of the tutorial objectives apart from the last two - I did take some screenshots, but rather unhelpfully they're all blank. I've just got a few questions based on what I've played so far:

First of all, when I load the game my subjects are disloyal until a month ticks past: I assume this is a bug and something I'm going to have to live with given that development has been shelved?

Whilst I'm on about subjects, what should I have done with my feudatories by now (about 40-50 years into the game, I play rather slowly!)? I'm guessing either integrated or released/claimed and DOW'ed (as suggested by the Wiki) as they don't have that many levies and I might be able to make better use of the land? They were certainly helpful in the war against Samnium/Apulia but when I own most of Southern Italy they've probably outlived their usefulness?

Second, I've tried reading the Wiki pages about culture, pops and converting and I'm still not sure I understand it! Again I'm sort of assuming that this is something I'll pick up with some more time playing the game. The Wiki talks about assimilating and integrating cultures/religious conversions etc, but I don't seem to have come across this yet - is this because everything I own is in the Italic culture group/Hellenic religion? (apologies for not having this as a screenshot, but the maps show Italy as Italic/Hellenic).

Third, if I play a "proper" game like I've done the tutorial, how bad are the consequences likely to be for my actions? It took me a while to declare the Samnium war because I wasn't sure about taking on the defensive league, but I ended up winning and annexing all five members of the defensive league (conquering Lucania and Apulia in the process). From having played a lot of CK2/EU4 I'd have a defensive pact/coalition on my hands if I even thought about taking that much territory. Is there a modifier in the tutorial that's stopping this? Or would I actually get away with it?

Last: From the position I'm in now it looks like I've got three options: a) attack the remnants of Etruria, which will bring in a five/six member defensive league (Genua, Boii and the other small states in northern Italy), b) attack the few remaining city states in the southern half of Italy, nearly all of which are feudatories of Epirus, or c) do as I'm supposed to do as Rome, and attack Carthage. Obviously I'd like to try all of them just to learn how to play the game, the question is which one would it be better to do first?

Thanks in advance to anyone who does answer. Apologies for some quite basic questions!

Also, they could be disloyal if you do not have your levies raised, as loyalty is influenced by your number of standing armies (probably a non intended consequence of 2.0)

there is a mission for this, it is nice to follow missions at this stage

You are right but it is happening nonetheless. Open you province view, and in the territory open the pops window, you will see the conversion, promotion, demotion, assimilation, migration, etc... of any POP that is happening in that territory.
Or would I actually get away with it?
You will get away with it, there are no consequences for AE except for the explicit ones. AI will have a lesser opinion of you but will not create a defensive league or attack you pre-emptively because of your AE.
which one would it be better to do first?
Follow missions at this stage. IMHO I would go for Epirus and Magna Graecia, for their cities and pops (culture and religion)

Thanks for this, much appreciated! :) I normally don't have any levies raised unless I'm about to go to war so you're almost certainly correct about that. The AE advice is helpful - I'd worried they might've turned the AE down for the tutorial or something like that.

Epirus currently has a revolt so I was leaning towards fighting them first, then rounding on the defensive league in Northern Italy before having a go at Carthage
