Very excited to see where this goes; and count me too against those who are rooting against the emperor.
"Sigh. Another dissident. My liege, what are your orders?"

2200-2205
2200-2205

As Poland took the first real steps into the unknown, with hyperdrive driven ships sent to new star systems, the ruler of Earth was Emperor Janislaw VI, a 48-year-old man of great confidence. He declared as the first science ship left Earth for the Sirius system that Earth would be only one of several planets under his guidance before he died. A charismatic man, he believed in investing – and reaping the rewards.

Already when the exploration of far away star systems started, Poland had some knowledge of what was awaiting. Early scans showed that Sirius III would most likely be suitable for colonization right away, while Istora III probably was not suitable for clonization at the current time. Both estimations would show to be correct.

And so dawned 2201, and humanity discovered alien life for the first time. Not sentinet life, but life abounding. Sirirus III was a continental world like Earth and as humanity celebrated with awe, Janislaw and his advisory council planned for the eventuality of intelligent life – it being human, lost colonies or real aliens different from our own. It was decided as one knew not how powerful any aliens would prove to be, the initial response should be both proactive and positive.

On February 12th, 2202, humanity finally left the cradle, as the Sirius system was claimed for Poland and fortified, with the initial planning stage for Poland’s first colony started a week after. Sirius III would henceforth be known as Wendia in celebration of the Wendish Empire of old – Poland’s history was of course well revered in the current political climate. On September 27th, 2203, the first colonists settled in on Wendia.

The year after another continental world was discovered in the Alpha Centauri system, and plans were immediately started for securing of the system and subsequent colonization.

2204 also saw a striking discovery. In the Cknoor system an abandoned alien amusement park was discovered. It was unclear who made it. Was it one of humanity’s lost colonies, or actual, real aliens? One thing was sure, the galaxy either contained or had contained intelligent life in times past.

Cknoor was not finished with surprises either, as the year after an alien murial was discovered in the system too. This one contained writing not known to man. The Emperor was most concerned.

In the Roscan system the same year, more alien remnants was discovered, this time a primitive solar powered spacecraft of decidedly alien design, abandoned seemingly for millennia.

And then, the big event: On May 24th, 2205 signals of an alien spacecraft was discovered in the Imdar system, only four jumps from Sol. The aliens did not answer hails, but the spacecraft itself bore striking resemblance to Earth’s. Was this one of the lost colonies? Could some of the ark ships have survived? Could this mean potentially many ark ships had succeeded? One thing was certain, though: Imdar and its continental planet would be Polish. So, the Emperor decreed.

And as 2205 ended, Poland had already come far. The Emperor reigned over five star systems, two planets and soon a third – as Alpha Centauri was the next colonization target. The future of Poland and humanity was bright. So, the Emperor proclaimed.

That's a good start. Can't wait for first contact!

Not immediately making enemies with aliens (or other humans) is a good policy.

Emperor Janislaw Vader has a nice ring, but he is known as Darth by rebel scum. One should go with the idea that there will be more advanced and less advanced. If it is proven that you are the most advanced, then that situation can be exploited later. If you are the least advanced, then you are traveling quickly to a waterfall and your paddle has a severe termite infestation. All hail, mighty Poland. Thank you for the update

It’s not far away now, as you can see! If these are ome of the lost colonies, however, the policy might not matter much.

Sounds like a good idea! :p Poland stronk!
Permission to make the obligatory “Poland can into Space”?

Wait? No one did that already?

I just checked and someone beat me to that since last Friday

A little bummed someone beat me to saying that; but also extremely happy someone was on the same wavelength as me.
Being late is better than never showing up, right? :D

On March 7th, 2206 call was announced for new settlers to travel to Alpha Centauri III, which henceforth would be known as Pelka, in honor of the many esteemed Emperors of the past.

CHa7h01.png

The same year, disturbing news reached the Emperor. A long, long time ago, killing robots named the Cybrex had roamed the area now under control of Poland. They probably were long gone, but one needed to be sure, and know more about them, so that any threat old or new of this kind would be possible to counter.

LeRrg6g.png

More pressing news came in 2207, when another alien spacecraft was encountered in Procyon, close to Alpha Centauri. Could it be one of the lost colonies? The spacecraft looked like human design... A team of scientists were set to research this immediately.

eG69qis.png

Meanwhile, Poland secured the Imdar system with its valuable planet. This unsurprisingly angered the first aliens met, named the Beta Aliens for lack of a better name. Shortly after Imdar was secured, Polish surveyors were shot at in the neighboring system and forced to flee. The Emperor decreed Imdar would have to be fortified, as fast as possible.

pebOLdM.png

In the Wendia colony, a startling surprise happened when the forests close to the colonists began to wander. These wandering, alien forests wreaked havoc on the colony, and the Emperor decreed the forests needed to burn, as fast as humanly possible. A team of scientists were set the task to plan an all-out extermination program, but it needed to be done all at once, in case the forests, well, were able to detect the threat and retaliate.

On April 3rd, 2209 Polish scientist managed to decode the Beta Aliens’ communication channels. It turned out the aliens were, in fact, a lost human colony! Calling themselves the Alvanian Star Coalition, these were a plutocracy, and quite hostile to Poland. They deemed the Polish Empire to not be the right government of humanity, a position they sought for themselves. These humans had developed a separate culture to Polish from their mainly Asian heritage coupled with people from America. It was clear from the first communication that they despise all that Poland and Earth has become.

LQcr4VH.png

The Imdar system was accordingly built up with an expanded starbase with lots of guns, and the planet Imdar I was designated for a new colony the same year the Alvanians were contacted. The new colony was decreed to be named Wojciech, in honor of the Emperors of old.

Since the Gamma Aliens, the ones met in Procyon, could be theorized to be hostile too, another starbase expansion were ordered in 2209 too. This turned out to be wise, as merely a month later, the Gamma Aliens tried to shoot down and board a Polish science ship, which barely escaped.

w7uICg5.png

And merely a year later, on August 16th, 2210 Polish scientists unmasked the Gamma Aliens and made contact. It turned out the aliens were indeed a lost colony. But also decidedly alien still. The Triech Absorbers were hijacked humans, a colony that had been infested and taken over by a parasitic species calling themselves Triech. There could be no permanent peace with these ones, the Emperor declared.

W0wQQqY.png

Still, steps were made to keep the peace – for now – as Poland was in no position to wage war on the lost colonies at this point. Poland had merely three warships and no invasion army, and there were at this time no way of knowing what the strength of the opposing empires were.

The Emperor also made steps to centralize even more power in his own hands on Earth and the colonies, calling for the absolute obedience from the citizens of Poland.

The Triech are from an old AAR of mine. You may take that as a hint. ;) I also created several new human empires. One is the Alvanians. A total of 15 old from my AARs and new empires.

Nice to see the Triech return! I suspect you'll have a lot of fun times with them as neighbors ;) Maybe they'll be too busy absorbing the Alvanians to bother with the Poles.

I like the empires you've created, and I really look forward to what will happen next.

Problem at this point is I have two empires close to me who are at a minumum as strong as me, possibly stronger, and their closest systems are much stronger defensive than my fleet can manage. I can probably take on one as soon as I've built up a little, but both? No way. And how to be sure the other won't attack while I am weakened with the first? Decisions...

Glad you like them! You will soon meet more! The big surge of new enocunters are stil a way off though.

I've always picked the option to study the forests. What does burning them do?

At least what it looks like from the screenshot, you have cut them off so you only share a chokepoint-border with each of them. Hopefully you can expand fast to the Southeast.

The Triech should be the first target - stealing control of humans is unacceptable!

And Poland is the rightful government of Terra - humans should kneel to it.
