After the latest war, the next years were calm, with the Empire building up her economy, upgrading the navy, increasing the navy size and not the least building a lot of cruisers. This calm would last until 2316, with the only notable event in between being the colonization of Anahita III, henceforth known as Athens.

In 2316 a revolt happened on Odranka’s Holding, where Nagyari slaves wanted to regain freedom. Naturally, with numbers few, they lost.

The years later, however, on Old Alvania – the old capital planet of the Nagyari (and not the Alvanians, for some reason) – a much larger revolt occurred.

Vc27if0.png

It was enormous and would last well into 2320, a year after the revolt started. And it ended, barely, with the smallest of margins, in Polish defeat. Thus, a Nagyarian state was once more independent.

The Empress vowed revenge and immediately declared war, bombarding the planet mercilessly while troops moved from the other side of the Empire to perform a planetary landing.

At the same time, a Dimensional Portal was discovered on newly settled Athens, giving valuable research for the Empire.

In mid-2324, after four years of bombardment and then planetary landing, the Empire won their war on the Nagyari Democratic Confederation.

But already in 2321, on August 12th, the Empress stunned the galaxy with her declaration that all colonist – that is, human – species would no longer be slaves, but rather residents of the Empire with no voting rights, but free. The Triech, being seen as non-human due to their parasitic nature, and actual alien spies, would still be slaves.

This resulted in a huge increase in alloy production, and a steep decline in the rest of the economy. It will, however, be for the best in the longer term, the Empress decreed.

It also showed quick results in rebelliousness in the Empire, with half of the previously rebellious planets no longer rebellious.

In 2325, Ugrasti III was started to be colonized, named Dunkirk. The continental world would surely be of great worth soon, the Empress decreed.

Finally, in 2326, the Polish Empire was finally unlocking the knowledge of building habitats. The Empress planned for many in the years to come.

Hopefully this helps with the rebellions.

Are slaves always guaranteed to rebel, or are there techs/policies you can unlock to keep them happy?

Problem is mainly low stability, ranging 0% to 15%. Low stability leads to events lowering stsbility leads to events making rebellion likelier.

Nagyari Democratic Confederation - Big name for rebel scum. Tis the problem with portals while you gain access to the unknown, the unknown gains access to you. Are there any quick or easy ways for you to gain stability? Thank you for updating.

To be honest, I have no idea. I am struggling with this part of the day. But I guess it makes for a better story when I don't grasp it all. Flaws often make for good story opportunities. ;)

2327-2359
2327-2359

As 2327 started, the Empress was enraged. Her two latest planned colonies, Athens and Dunkirk, was still not settled, as the Yldar Union had closed their borders to Poland before the colony ships could arrive. And the Yldar had powerful friends. Too powerful, for now. The two planets with so much potential was in an enclave inherited from the Nagyari, and for now, the new colonies would have to wait.

Expansion would not stop, though. In 2326 Poland had become capable of building habitats, and in 2327 a massive building spree of habitat sites begun all over the Empire. The next years, new colonies were founded on these new habitats en masse. In 2334, Dover, Denver and Dorset were colonized. In 2335, it was time for Dortmund and Denmark. The year 2336 saw Danelaw colonized, while 2337 saw Düsseldorf come into being. In 2339 Drammen was founded, before Sofia saw the light of day in 2341.

VnA9xFs.png

In 2340, the long period of peace came to and end, though, and with it the time for new habitats. A war for subjugation against the Freedwellers started this year, with the Empress decreeing they would fall – in their entirety – to Polish might.

WmjarzN.png

This war was not easy though, as the Freedwellers had heavy fortified their border with Poland, with several border stations fielding over 10k military strength. It was costly to wear them down. But wearing them down, Poland did.

HB4tIvE.png

Empress Konstantia would sadly not see this through. On June 13th, 2341, about a year into the war, she died at the age of 96. Her son would take over as Emperor.

While the war with the Freedwellers went well, the military was of course fully occupied, and the slaves of Krakow tried a revolt to free themselves in 2342. It was, of course, beaten quickly enough, within a month. Dissent was still seething on some planets, though, and the Emperor was – secretly – worried.

As 2351 came, worrying news arrived. Both the Sildor Commonwealth and the Freedwellers were close to opening the L-Cluster. No one knew what hid behind there, and no one knew why it had once been sealed off. The Emperor decreed it was unwise to open this Pandora’s Box when humanity knew so little about the secrets hidden behind. His warnings met deaf ears.

In 2355, distaster struck as the Wulhubb slaves of Stockholm rose in a huge revolt. The planet fell, and a small, independent realm now sat deep within Polish space. The Emperor vowed to return after the war, but the Wulhubb quickly got alliances set up, so the Emperor soon realized it would be best to let them be – for now.

gpQREho.png

On March 17th, 2359 the Freedwellers finally could not withstand the Polish might anymore and signed a surrender. They now were the largest vassal of the mighty Polish Empire, to their chagrin. They would soon see how much their survival would rely on Poland, though.

With the war over, the Emperor decreed it was time to reorganize parts of the Empire. He set in motion reforms to greatly improve the craftmanship of the artisans of the Empire, now to be known as artificers.

bwrERsy.png

He also reformed the whole social setup of society. Decreeing that all descendants of Earth – spare the infected Triech – were true citizens of the Empire as long as they kept themselves loyal, he also emancipated the alien Wulhubb, who now no longer were slaves or indentured servants, but rather residents of the Empire.

As 2359 ended, the galactic west were firmly in the hands of the Empire. However, a large threat was looming, as the Sildor and Freedwellers kept researching ways to open up the L-Gates…

A lot of d-named planets in Poland.

No matter what's behind the L-Gates, there's serious potential for a game-changer that could upend the Galaxy here.

The Emperor may not want to open Pandora's Box, but there's just too many people in the room with that damn Box.

We will soon find out. Next update, in fact. Not sure when it comes though. I am one and a half update from where I currently am and right now I'm a bit burned out + the game speed is slowing down. Stellaris is incredibly unoptimized. I have a top modern PC costing a fortune from last summer and the game game now runs 1-2 dasy or something each second. I know I have a large galaxy, but come on. :p Ryzen 5600, Radeon RX6800XT...

2360-2378
2360-2378

The years 2360-2370 was a rather quiet time for the Empire. Much time and resources were used on upgrading the buildings and infrastructure of the Imperial planets, as well as reconstrucing the now greatly changed economy due to way less slaves than before.

Another change was a further tightening of the control over the Empire’s information stream, as an Empire wide information quarantine was instituted. But the Emperor also decreed large research subsidies to be given, as it had turned out several competing civilizations were superior in technology, albeit weaker in other fields. Population wise, the Empire is rather small, this cannot do the Emperor decreed!

In 2370 the Emperor also ordered renewed escavations all over the Empire, something he would soon live to regret…

The following year, 2371, was a year of disaster, for some, even impending doom. The Sildor Commonwealth opened the L-Gates and murderous nanobots called The Grey Tempest swarmed out in large numbers all over the galaxy!

2zpRcHF.png

Each of these Tempest fleets numbered over 30k in fleet strength, at a time where the entire Imperial fleet strength was equal to one of those… With the Polish Empire being the strongest fleet in the galaxy, this was a disaster.

kUiO1AF.png

Soon, the fleet in Freedweller space began its rampant destruction, while Makaru space also was ravaged. The Empire could with these numbers only be one place at a time, and Freedweller space was chosen, both because of the placement of Imperial fleets as well as the Freedwellers being, well, human.

iQlQnH6.png

At first, the Empire positioned itself defensively, while building up the strength of the navies further. In 2376 force came to shove, however, as the Emperor saw it necessary to try to stop the ravaging fleet. Would Poland end up being the savior of the galaxy? Or would Poland only show itself to be a mere paper tiger after all?

The truth came fast…as it turned out the Grey Tempest, while powerful enough to lay waste to entire star systems, were surprisingly vulnerable to Imperial naval prowess. One fleet of over 30k was decimated by the entirety of Polish might, with minimal losses. Then another fleet. Then two fleets combined, with losses of course, but still only minimal compared to the feared estimates. Then, the Imperial fleets had to withdraw as the remaining fleets were highly damaged, but surprisingly intact overall.

QEeKcuk.png

The lesson learned was that the Imperial fleets could take on the Tempest, but it would be a long time coming before it could be beaten, as the Tempest had many fleets, and kept sending them all over the galaxy. And the navy could not advance from the initial L-Cluster entry point due to virtually no intel on what was on the other side. A science ship was needed, at some point. But first, the Imperial navy needed to repair, reinforce and build up massively.

DLzHfnk.png

But while these battles raged, the Emperor decided that the galaxy needed to unite, as much and fast as possible. He agreed to association status with the Star Assembly federation, a federation he secretly had planned to attack before Tempest arrived. This, of course, was now highly classified.

77NK0w6.png

Back home on Earth, a Class-4 Singularity was built, after Imperial scientists unlocked Precursor secrets while the galaxy fought for their survival. This meant a lot more energy was being produced, greatly aiding the necessary buildup of forces.

On another note, please vote for the Q1 2022 ACAs, which is going into its last week of voting now! Vote for the best AARs you know in the different game categories. :) You do, of course, not have to vote for my works, but vote. :D

Well no, and yes. It will take some time to take on the Tempest for real, as I can't advance as long as the neighboring L-Cluster systems are unexplored, and there are coming new waves of attackers all the time. Need to clean up, remain there while a science ship explores, not lose said science ship... :D

Time and money will calm the fiercest tempest. Thank you for the Iberia.

I added your Iberia to my future reading list.
Thank you for reading! I'm currently not well, as I mentioned in the ACAs thread, so updates are slow for both my AARs right now.

I am so sorry to hear the news. Please get well soon. (I am so far behind, slow is great for me.)

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
