Crusader Kings 2 MiniAAR

Mod: The Seven Kingdoms

Presentation

Mod: The Seven Kingdoms (TSK) is a CK2 mod based on the books and TV series 'A Song of Ice and Fire', primarily set during the period known as the 'Age of Petty Kings', during which Westeros it was much more fractured culturally and religiously.

Brought to you by the TSK team, they offer one of the largest and most detailed maps of Westeros - much of it was, so to speak, invented (like the added regions beyond the wall and many islands) to add additional detail and depth, but in a some are hostile. In fact, they have taken great pains to reflect on the tradition as accurately as possible.

Note that this mod is in its infancy and is being worked on by a very small team of dedicated players - not full-time developers - and so there is a lot wrong with it. When compared to other mods, it is certainly difficult to get around and needs refinement. However, fear not! They are working to improve the mod day by day and have been integrating content from many wonderful developers into the PDX CK2 modding community. It can take months or even years to get to a good standard, but we hope it gets there someday. (CK3 version is planned too!)

Purpose: As House Vance is a prominent Andal house in the Riverlands, I set out for this campaign the objective of consolidating House Vance as Kings of the Riverlands, not only to unify these lands, but also to build a strong foundation for a future perhaps brilliant of House Vance in the region, until then there will certainly be other events in the neighboring regions that will influence the campaign, but I say, the campaign can be done quickly, but I'm detailing the events to make it more refined, and as it says in the title, it's a MiniAAR.

Chapter I – The 2nd Red Fork War

“Riverlands is divided by several lords fighting over nothing more than to keep their properties or just to expand minimally. Therefore I, King Armistead, want to become the King of Riverlands!” King Armistead addresses his lords and the allied kings of the Andal confederacy.

In Wayfarer's Rest, King Armistead, King Clement Piper, King Jaremy Jesswyse and King Jonos met with their troops, they prepare to invade the Red Fork, expecting a brutal defense by the first men, just like in the 1st Red Fork War, where the Andals were defeated.

In the Sixth Moon, the two armies face each other, Lord Harl of Saltpans, commanding the troops of King Daryn III are defeated by the troops of King Armistead himself and his allied kings, at the end of the day, 2.482 of the first men die. The combined armies of King Clement, Lord Lyonel, King Armistead, King Jaremy and the army of God's Eye together set out to fight the army of Blackwood Vale commanded by Prince Lucas Blackwood, where again the army of the first men are defeated.

The situation worsens when rumors of an army of
7.500 from King Tristifer IV 'the Hammer of Justice' had arrived in King Jonos' lands. The information was correct, again the allied kings advance on another army of the first men, taking place the famous Battle of Turnbridge. In it King Tristifer maintains his position in the center, repelling several attacks commanded by King Armistead, the hope of the Andals was in Commander Jeffory who had managed to defeat the first men on his right flank commanded by Lord Mikke Charlton. At the end of the day this would not be enough, of the 10.000 Andals, 2.525 would perish in battle, while only 875 of the 7.676 of the army of the first men would be slaughtered.

The defeated armies of the kings would meet again at Hornsept, from there to discuss how to continue the war after the great defeat at the Battle of Turnbridge. The kings choose to keep attacking, from this strategy, the allied army confronts Darry's army that was besieging Wayfarer's Keep. On the side of the walls would take place the Battle of Boudrac. In the middle of the battle, with the troops of the first men already disbanding, King Armistead with his horse sees a man far from the others, when he looks he realizes that he was certainly a noble, as he got close, the king would realize that the soldiers were King Florian IV Mooton of The Bay of Claws. The two begin to surround each other, Armistead remains tense and focused, he then realizes an open point in Florian's position, that's what he needs, throwing his weight forward, Armistead with more force to deliver a blow that knocks King Florian down in floor.

"It's all over now!" yells Armistead, as Florian spits on the ground and throws his sword to the ground, in disgust he yells that he surrenders, as he looks helplessly to get up at Armistead. The first men soldiers remaining look at this scene and more quickly try to flee. King Armistead then orders some soldiers to take him prisoner.

1662240641470.png

King Armistead with his sword in hand looks to the horizon, where the rest of the soldiers were chasing the first men, suddenly thousands of King Tristifer IV's soldiers descend the hill screaming, as hundreds of horsemen from the sides begin to finish off his flank. After a few seconds of no reaction, the King orders his soldiers to form guard, hold position there, while he picks up his shield from the mud and returns to the back of the ranks. His men were already tired, but they held on, almost heroically. On the other hand, King Tristifer IV's cavalry had already defeated the andals, and they were moving closer and closer to the center of the andal army.

King Tristifer IV retreats with his troops, he realizes from afar that they were being repulsed. Meanwhile, King Armistead shouts fervently at his men as he slashes at every enemy that comes his way, his face and armor covered in a mixture of blood and mud, to defend his flanks, Armistead heads for the front line, alone he goes on top of the enemies, his men follow him when they watch their King run with his sword towards dozens of enemies, this improvised attack makes the rest of the army of the first men disband, even though the andal army was outnumbered. The orders given by Lord Kane and Petyr of Grassland are not even heeded, they simply accept and flee with their men from the battlefield. On that day
1.282 Andals died in the army of 9.524 soldiers, while 7.140 of the first men lost their lives of the 12.868 who were involved in the battle.

The Battle of Boudrac was a great victory for the andals, but there were no feasts, as the kings soon again led their armies to the siege of Raventree Hall. After the success of the siege, a few more sporadic battles ensue, where the first men never really had a real chance of victory. The war officially comes to an end, when in a grand ceremony at Wayfarer's Rest, where Lords Aexel Tully, Kane Kanet, and Tytos Blackwood swear allegiance to King Armistead, as well as converting to the Faith of the Seven.

Boudrac was certainly an impressive victory, King Armisted caught himself a nice fish.

That map looks really good.

That's a good start.

What will you do once the Riverlands are conquered?

I hope the fish will bend the knee in the future.

Armistead is an ambitious man and arguably smarter than the rest of the River Kings.

Tristifer, as in canon, lost his hundredth battle and lost the Riverlands to the Andals. Sad haha.
Imagine being Tristifer, winning 99 battles, but losing and dying in the hundredth...

That's a good start.

What will you do once the Riverlands are conquered?
I intend to unify The Riverlands, overcome some struggles with other regions, and make a base for the dynasty to control the region in peace. Also because it's a MiniAAR, maybe it will serve as a test for a big one in another region, I've been testing changes in gamerules, some small mods outside the campaign.

An important victory, and hopefully one of many.

Chapter II – Lord Lucas Blackwood
Lord Tytos Blackwood, ruled late in his life at Maidstone, as his former home at Raventree Hall had been conquered by King Armistead. Tytos died at the age of 51 from severe stress, his eldest son become the Lord of Blackwood Vale. Lucas, the new Lord of Blackwood Vale continued to follow the Old Gods, while his father and two brothers had converted to the Faith of the Seven, with this difference, Lucas had gained the support of the local population, mostly First Men. With the support of the populace, Lucas went on to become the most powerful lord in Wayfarer's Rest Kingdom after the conquest of Blackwood Vale.

Over the years, Lucas' contempt for the southern lords was visible, for being foreigners and worshiping other gods. Lucas' hatred grew when Lord Axel Tully of Riverrun converted to the faith of the seven, and was still made Master of the Laws of the realm. The old Tully house was suddenly distancing itself from its historic lords, the Blackwoods. Lucas for years went from being just a disobedient lord to a danger to the realm, he was incredibly charismatic, didn't feel emotions or concern for others besides himself, this helped him to put the first men as only tools to fulfill his ambitions. This caused disturbances throughout his lands, the followers of the Faith of the Seven were always at the very least banished from their lands, when they were killed Lucas himself covered up the first men.

Lord Lucas became combative when it was discovered that he planned to kill his wife, Princess Marla Mooton of The Bay of Claws, a follower of the of the Seven. The discovery of his plans was his downfall, Marla the next day managed to escape with one of his faithful followers, she would reach the court of King Armistead, who with her complacent request convinced the king that Lord Lucas was not only his enemy, but of all followers of the of the Seven. The King above all saw an opportunity to end yet another Lord follower of the Old Gods.

Days after, the army would be called, they gathered at Riverrun, with the troops of Lord Axel Tully, Lord Harwyn Homsby, Lord Samwell Smallwood and Lord Simons Redstoner. A total of
5.367 soldiers would arrive at Raventree Hall on the Eleventh Moon. They would camp around Raventree Hall. At noon a knight would arrive at the gate, with a message to Lord Lucas who was already aware of the army encamped around his residence, the local populace stood on the mud street, staring at the knight as he nervously walked along, swallowing his saliva, a strong grip on his sword.

Arriving inside the Lord's Castle, the knight declares that he has a declaration from the King, opens a guarded scroll and declares aloud, "As King, I hereby declare the immediate arrest of Lord Lucas of Blackwood Vale, for the crimes committed against the citizens of Wayfarer's Rest Kingdom and with his wife, for the crime of trying to break an official and sacred marriage to the Seven Gods.", the knights and nobles in the hall begin to gossip among themselves, while Lucas seated places his hand on his chin, looking thoughtful.

Lord Lucas gets up, declares arrest to the knight, who nervously draws his weapon, but is soon circled by the guards, but Lucas returns with his order and then declares, "Let this man go, tell your King, that the Blackwoods will never bow to this trash you call the Seven Gods.”

"Prepare the defenses men, today we will celebrate a victory!" Said Lord Lucas to his guards, who screamed as they raised their swords high. King Armistead with his vassals in the camp then decided to start the siege of Raventree Hall, there was no atmosphere of war, the Lords seemed to be without enthusiasm, the enemy was not worth receiving the fervor of a real war. On the same day, the siege is won by the King's troops, only
90 men die to conquer Raventree Hall after an assault on its walls, with Lord Lucas fleeing to the north with part of the guarrison and some other soldiers of his Army.

His soldiers would be pursued to the Red Market region, when he was cornered by the King's great army, all of Lucas' men would perish, they would be easily defeated, he would surrender at the end of the battle. His title of Lord of Blackwood Vale would be taken from him, while he rotted in the dungeons of Wayfarer's Rest, King Armistead would place Rufus Paege of Fairmarket, now Lord Rufus of Blackwood Vale, in charge of the region.

The real battle was about to begin, King Tristifer IV of The River and the Hills would subjugate King Vorian Vypren of Blue Fork in the same year, his conquest would entail the recognition of King Daryn III of Darry as High King of The Riverlands, where his loyalty would be consummated at Oldstones. By naming himself High King of The Riverlands, Tristifer demands the kings to the south accept his suzerainty or he would take their lands by war. King Armistead is opposed to such outrage. He then starts a war for the Kingdom of The Riverlands, to take for himself the title of High King.

By positioning himself as a contender for the title, King Armistead receives knights from The Bay of Claws, swearing that their King, Florian V will swear allegiance to House Vance and accept Armistead as his rightful overlord and High King of The Riverlands when the war is won, promises 3.400 Crabmen soldiers would arrive at Wayfarer's Rest soon.

The Kingdom of Wayfarers Rest grows quickly, but taking on House Mudd will be a challenge with their 7000 men and ability to defend their lands with the river crossing penalty, though the same goes for house Vance.

King Armistead have a lot of tributaries and the Mootons on his side

A rather convenient domestic dispute, all told :)
Unfortunately it was the demise of the Blackwoods as a legacy

And the decisive battle will begin...
Yes, for full control of the region.

The battle for the Riverland's begins...

And there is still religious enmity.
Religious rebels ended up in the stake anyway.

Chapter III – War of the Two Riverlands

King Tristifer's armies land in Kanet on Lord Harwyn Homsby's lands, this causes King Armistead's forces to switch strategies and not cross the Trident, instead he moves north to meet King Tristifer's army. On the 13th of the Eighth Moon, the armies clash on the Turnbridge Plains, initiating the Battle of Turnbridge.

1662490716523.png

Amidst the battle, only Commander Kendel stood by King Armistead's side with his troops, as they battled Lord Marshal Daryn III and King Tristifer. For uncertain reasons, King Armistead glimpses King Tristifer killing every soldier that came his way. Reluctantly, Armistead tries to leave, his fear of dying at Tristifer's hands being visible to his troops. Even so, they manage to repel Tristifer's army, with himself ordering a retreat, while Lord Marshal Daryn III commanded the last positions while his king retreated. In the end,
5.129 of the first men died, while 1.517 of Armistead's army and its allies perish in battle.

1662490858612.png

Then the combined army departs into hostile territory, crossing the trident. Oldstones is taken on the Sixth Moon of the following year, with the taking, King Tristifer officially surrenders to King Armistead's troops, had they met in battle, things might have turned out differently. Upon victory, at Wayfarer's Rest, Armistead is crowned High King of the Riverlands, henceforth called 'the Victorious One'.

With his victory, the allies of the now High King Armistead accept his claim for the crown of Riverlands which is now united under the sigil of House Vance. No one questions your cry anymore. Although, some lords are still in favor of Lord Tristifer IV, and may in the future rebel against the High King when the time is right. For thousands of years, Riverlands has been ruled by several petty kings, but now it is united in a kingdom, under the banner of House Vance. Even so, some call themselves kings, even after they have sworn allegiance to the High King of the Riverlands, Armistead then proclaims that there can be only one King in the Riverlands.

1662490964990.png

1662490981277.png

Yet further south, the kings of the Andal confederacy remain independent from the High King Armistead, this relationship may change in the future, but either way, Armistead turning against one of them means that all others would turn against the High King. For the time being, King Marq of Acom's Ridge, King Jonos of Southstone and King Jaremy of God's Eye remain unintegrated into The Riverlands.

Prince Robert, heir to The Riverlands marries Jeyne Lydden, daughter of King Landyll of Gondel Hills. King Armistead's friendship of years with Lord Simons Redstoner becomes stronger, they fought together in battle, constantly Simons receives Armistead in his residence, in Redstone, this relationship could last a lifetime, surely more battles will be fought together.

Its not totally incorporated yet, and some vassals are unhappy, and this is not helping.
