Depends on the cause; crashes due to hardware overheating are, for instance, or memory leaks. I don't think either of those apply here - crashes they cause would come at some random point or action in the game.

Your issue seems clearly restricted to that Government tab, so perhaps in the video area I would have thought.
What do you mean by "video area"? And do you mean the issue isn't hardware/user related?

By "video area" I mean anything relating to graphics, as the issue is triggered by you clicking on a particular graphical structure, the Governments tab. Whether video driver, video hardware, something in the video/graphics parts of Windows, or even a game bug/incompatibility that for some reason is triggering on your machine only (so far as we know).

I don't know if the issue is hardware related or not, I see no firm evidence either way.

The suggestion to try another Windows user was admittedly a stab in the dark, but I have seen Windows User Profile problems cause quite unexpected symptoms before!

Well, it is hard to know if I'm the only one, either from just it being me being vocal about it or people are silent about it thinking it is the usual "Game Breaking bugs from updates" thing; my hopes are high it isn't just me considering I have an issue in EU4 that someone else had an issue with (Game freezing randomly, a topic from the subforum you are involved in).

Well, I do almost all the technical support for this game here and in our tickets system, and I've seen no other reports. As you say it is possible there are others who are not reporting it in those channels.

You are of course free to report it as a bug in that forum; if there are crash dumps and crash logs made add them there, perhaps QA and the devs can see something I'm missing.

Could the issue be caused by my games not being on Ironman mode with achievements enabled?
I don't see how, but I guess you could test that theory pretty easily!

Hello. I had the game crash while I was on the Government tab again. Never happened since we last chatted about it. Everything was fine last time. I tried playing the save but it was "corrupted".

How is your C drive free space doing? Corrupted saves are a common result of running out of disk space, but it could also be a result if the game crashing for other reasons while saving the game.

You now say the game crashed while you were in the governement tab, but your previous posts indicate that you crashed the moment you clicked on the government tab. Is there such a difference?

Also, did you ever try to reinstall updated drivers? The last dxdiag you posted did not show what was the latest driver back then, and another version has been released since then. You mentioned that you "downloaded" the driver, but did you actually install it after downloading it?

Edit: The failure to install the driver could also be caused by Dell. The drivers for your laptop should be here (you want the intel UHD/Iris Xe driver specifically, and make sure you select the correct windows version): https://www.dell.com/support/home/e...roduct/inspiron-14-5406-2-in-1-laptop/drivers

The driver listed by dell seems to be older than the latest version listed by intel, but it is still newer than what you had.

When I first made this post, my C: Drive was chockablock (If people still say that to mean full), but as I tinkered with the mod, I discovered my issue was that the game wasn't on the D: Drive.

About the government tab crashing, it usually happened in two ways: Either by clicking/hovering over the icon or going through the sub-tabs of the government tab. Sometimes it is fine, but sometimes it Alt-F4's me for no reason.

When was the recent driver update? Also, good on Dell for not being transparent about new drivers. I could have been stuck with 2020 drivers for 3 years without knowing they couldn't automatically update.

The latest dell one is from nov 7, while the latest intel one appears to be from late december.

Also, it looks like your laptop also has a geforce mx330 gpu in addition to the intel iris Xe. Its graphics performance may be slightly worse, but using it should free up some other resources for the game to use. The dell link above also has drivers flr this which may need an update.

Here are instructions on how to switch the gpu used by the game: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000090168/graphics.html

As for disk space on the c drive. Most games, including Paradox games, saves to the C drive even if the game is installed somewhere else, so if your c drive is full now, it would corrupt the save.

Is 80GB enough for the C: Drive?
