The 2022 Graphics/AARtist of the Year is...

When I devised these awAARds one of the first ones I thought of was this one. While many of us are good writAARs, and some even good gamers ( ), there are those special few that take a great deal of time and effort to really spruce up their work. As suggested, this could be for original graphics, manipulation of screenshots, general screenshot usage or inclusion of well timed and/or period specific pictures. All of these make an AAR that much more special and those that practice it well certainly deserve recognition.

19 of our 23 voters offered nominations to this category and as you will see, quite a few folks were mentioned. Our winner, however, quickly ran away with the race. So let's get to the reveal. The 2022 Graphics/AARtist of the Year goes to...

Congratulations to Jersey and ibicko and all the nominees and thank you so much to everyone who voted for me! Thanks also to Frédéric III (now @Arizal), who, more than 15 years ago, wrote a Byzantine AAR with pages edited like history books. It made such an impression on me that I have stolen his style for almost all my History Books AARs and Kindgom of Jerusalem is a distant descendant of his work. For Crowns of the Levant I tried to reconcile narrative and illustrations and it allowed me to try many things, it was really fun.
