Previously, prisoners were able to be restricted to the canteen via the Eat regime. Now the Eat regime provides them with freetime when they finish eating. This also happens with the yard and shower regimes.

While I like the idea of eat/freetime and eat/lockup, can we also keep the previous functionality in the standard eat regime? The new regimes break my old prisons and are design limiting.

I'm stuck playing the 2018 version and can't enjoy new features because of this issue.

This is the "feature" that made me stop playing Prison Architect. Seriously, what is the reasoning behind this "loose regime"? It worked perfectly before, and the game was popular the way it was. Is not like the previous regime system was broke or anything, someone at Paradox just decided to "tweak" and make every prison built before the update behave differently than it was. Why don't make a yard/freetime, shower/freetime, and eat/freetime then?
I like having min, med and high sec prisoners share the same facilities, but never cross eachother. Also, I like to have the guards scheduled to be exactly where all my inmates will be. That's simply impossible now.

Someone mentioned playing the game before this change. How can I go on about doing that? Is just deactivating the Free for Life DLC?

I guess that the upside is that I'm not buying more DLCs for this.

The only way I know is to select the 2018 version from betas in the game properties if you’re on steam, but you’ll be missing a ton of functionality (as you know). The good thing is the menus are less cluttered at least, and the game is perfectly playable with minimal bugs.

I think they should also add eat/free time and shower/free time which behave as those regimes behave now, but regular eat and shower means they stay in those rooms and eat/lockup and shower/lockup behave the same. Also, a eat/kitchen work would be good so after inmates are done eating, they can help clean up trays without having to have a separate work regime after eat.

Then, of course, yard means they stay in the yard.

All true ! They not should provide freetime after they finish eating and showering in EAT and SHOWER regime. Also they don't go to the yard on YARD regime. YARD regime should be like before, everybody need go out on the yard room ! ! Should also fix it during YARD regime that solitary prisoners should go to nearest cage room , or able connect solitary rooms with cage rooms in logistics same way as laundry or canteen......

I fell the same, they changed a core mechanic in many prisons, now yard is useless. It's just a freetime! I prefer control were all my prisoners go all time so i can make a more efficient schedule or prison design! It was just put a checkbox "prisoners must stay in yard"
