Information

I have disabled all mods

Yes

Required

Summary

Road vehicles to/from cargo stations are stuck since update

Expected Result

Road vehicles do not get stuck

Actual Result

Road vehicles are stuck at "Returning to facility" with no routes

Steps to reproduce

1. build connecting cargo stations with proper road and rail
2. have industries
3. watch truck/van movements at the hub:
- Problematic ones are "Returning to facility" but no pathing set when checking its Route
- They are stuck until despawned

Attempted workarounds (all failed):
- Tried rebuilding and adjusting cargo station, roads and rails.
- Tried upgrading roads to trigger recalc of the Routes.

Platform

Steam

Game Version

1.17.0-f3

Optional

Description

City was running smoothly prior to update, with 75-80% average traffic / 14k exports
Since latest update...
- import/export halved
- overall industries are dying due to lack of import/export services.
- Roads are super congested at the busy cargo stations.
- Trains are way scarce compared to before.

Leave it to the modding community to FIX the bug before Paradox even acknowledges it's existence! :D :D

Why would Paradox be making statements? They are the publishers, Colossal Order are the developers, and they HAVE acknowledged it's existence, or their community mananger has, at least.

hmm you know, the empty trucks... going in a loop - in and out of cargo buildings. I've seen this behaviour for a couple of months at least. I've noticed it with the large post trucks at the mail sorting center. This building is one of the very few buildings that actually has separate despawn and spawn points for its vehicles (they are on opposite side of the paved cargo area). And often you can see a single truck driving back and forth forever between the two points. It doesnt even drive out on the road. It just goes between the two points... its like 10 meters. And this blocks all other traffic into the building.
I am noticing the same thing. I have tried adjusting the settings in TM:pE and Transfer Manager to allow for despawing of Cargo Trucks specifically, but it is not affecting the empty cargo trucks just looping in and out of the cargo train terminals ad infinitum. I really hope C.O. fixes this bug, it's impossible to advance past a small / medium city if the cargo truck traffic is stuck like this. Help!

Got the same issue, and this make me wanna stop playing if they cannot fix this, have lots of cargo train terminals.
If the Transfer Manager mod doesn't work for you, I've found great success using a tweak to a previous post I made to mitigate the issue (Except this tweak, so far, has all but removed the issue entirely). Here it is:

You'll need MoveIt! and 2 small 1-way roads. Using a small 1-way road (Going towards the cargo station, in the same door that they usually do) and then use MoveIt! to move that road inside of the cargo station, about half-way into the station itself.

Then use another small 1-way road leading out of the cargo station; use MoveIt!! to move it just outside of the normal exit door, and to the left a touch (less than 1 unit).

The 1-way road going into the station will take non-bugged cargo trucks in w/ the normal behavior, however, for the bugged cargo trucks it will cause them to despawn inside of the cargo station. You might have to play with the angle/position of the road, but I've been able to replicate this on 3 cargo stations. If the bugged cargo trucks are turning around, then the 1-way road isn't deep enough in the cargo station, and if they're able to loop and leave on the exit 1-way road, then that road isn't far enough to the left.

Alternatively, you can do the same exact thing with the Freight Terminal mod from the workshop and do the exact same thing, only difference is that it's bay doors are naturally spread out, so it's easier to make the 2 1-way roads work.

I can post a screenshot if it helps (Or can do video if someone wants to point me in the direction of a guide/video on how to capture video).

It's both tragic and hilarious that modders are required to fix a game breaking bug.

@co_avanya please explain to us why the developers are taking so long to deploy a patch to fix this. No ETA, no statement, nothing. Are you expecting us to just sit here for weeks? A month? Or even longer...?

Are you forcing us ALL to wait for the Sony/MS certification processes?

I'm afraid patches take time and I understand it's frustrating having to wait for a fix for this issue. We're on it and as soon as I have an update on the situation, I will let you know.

I understand updates/patches take time. However hotfixes for one or two small/"minor" issues usually happen within a couple of days or a week. I'd think Cargo ports not working has proper enough priority to warrant a quick hotfix rather than waiting it out in the usual patch-cycle @co_avanya.
I also understand you're not a developer (or so I assume), but if at all possible, please carry this to the team.

@co_avanya I bought the DLC to play the game, not to take a break from it. Are you able to provide ETA for that fix? If not, I'd like to return that DLC and CC pack. Could you instruct how to do that for Epic? They require 2hrs played, but I will not waste 2hrs just to be able to get the refund.

We're not talking about redesigning fundamental parts of the game, but that your dev team find the error they introduced and remove it. I'm not trying to insult anyone, but have your team been in contact with the modders that have managed to hide the symptoms? It should at least provide insight to the nature of the fault. Waiting more than a few days to fix this is not very respectful to all the customers - or your otherwise excellent product.

They explicitly said they have no update; when they do it will probably include an ETA. Sorry about that but it is the situation.

Please contact Epic for any refund from their store.

This may have been mentioned already. From what I can tell this problem only occurs when multiple freight stations are connected to each other. However when I have multiple stations that are connected in a way that each one can only import/export from the outside but cannot send trains to each other...the bug doesn't occur at all. I also tried making a simple point A to point B internal freight line with no connections to the outside lines and along with this bug, the AI also seemed quite off in general. Trucks were delivering goods to one station, shipping them by train to another, only to leave that station and drive all the way back across town to businesses that were already not far from the origin to begin with. This kind of behavior negates the whole point of having freight lines to move goods from industrial areas to businesses.

For those who use the Epic version of the game that want to try Sleepy's Transfer Manager mod with the fix for this bug, you can find Sleepy's Transfer Manager mod here: (or google it yourself I guess with "sleepy334 github transfer manager ce").

Unfortunately he doesn't package it into a release that is easy to download, however it is there in amongst the code in binary form. Just download the whole repository as a zip file (<> Code button). Open it and look for the "Epic" folder. Within it is a 2.2.40 folder. Extract just that 2.2.40 folder to your Epic mods folder (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Mods). Rename the 2.2.40 folder to TransferManagerCE. Then enable it within the game.

Yeah it's ironic that I've spent the last couple weeks really going hard at my freight stations, only to have that be the one glaring bug introduced with the patch. It's like the bug was just for me, though obviously it's for everyone!

If you can't hotifx it quickly then roll us ALL back to 1.16 while you continue to investigate. Then you can take your time and bug test properly. I'm sure we're all eager for 1.17's features but they don't seem to matter much if we're dead in the water.

Also, we would all like to speak to the Manager, Fredrik Wester. Tell him that sometimes the best way to apologize is to give a gift to those you hurt.

As a software developer, I second this suggestion to rollback the game to 1.16 on all platforms and storefronts asap. Always mitigate first, then you devs can take as much time to fix this bug at your leisure. As it is this bug makes the game completely unplayable, and as a player on Xbox/Win10 edition I do not even have the option of using mods that have recently been updated to mitigate this bug!

ATTN @co_avanya on the above.

Well, it's kind of weird that because of lack of proper QA at CO you expect me to do something. I paid for the game I cannot play, community and modders are bending over backwards to fix it or find a workaround, and additionally I need to find my way to remove DLC from my lib. Come on... If they are so helpless with the bug, there has been solution mentioned - just roll back to 1.16 or coordinate returns.

I paid for the DLC and creator packs on the day of the patch. I spent several hours (4-5 hours) troubleshooting the issues that were introduced with the patch, and now Steam refuses a refund (yes, I tried) because I'm past the 2 hour limit they have set on refunds. In our country we have consumer rights' laws that cover things like this, so who do I contact to get a refund?

EDIT: and please don't say "You need to contact Steam", because this will not work as long as you (the developers) have not contacted Steam to let them know that the game is broken

We’re all frustrated but there is no need to rage at them. That won’t solve anything. I bet it is a publishing problem. But I agree that rolling it back would be a good idea, the bugs are quite game-breaking. I for one am not playing until a fix because my bus lines are not working which totally breaks my city and I don’t want to delete them all just to remake them later

Double-edged sword. Rolling back would sort out the bug but would force thousands of modded players go completely vanilla! Let alone the mess of temporarily taking out DLC content.

This seems like a separate bug, and one they haven't even managed to reproduce reliably, AFAIK. The new quay asset with trees combined with some other factor triggers a surge in path units usage, which breaks the transit lines and causes a sharp decrease in pedestrian traffic. It's best to simply not use they quay.
