Information

I have disabled all mods

Yes

Required

Summary

Road vehicles to/from cargo stations are stuck since update

Expected Result

Road vehicles do not get stuck

Actual Result

Road vehicles are stuck at "Returning to facility" with no routes

Steps to reproduce

1. build connecting cargo stations with proper road and rail
2. have industries
3. watch truck/van movements at the hub:
- Problematic ones are "Returning to facility" but no pathing set when checking its Route
- They are stuck until despawned

Attempted workarounds (all failed):
- Tried rebuilding and adjusting cargo station, roads and rails.
- Tried upgrading roads to trigger recalc of the Routes.

Platform

Steam

Game Version

1.17.0-f3

Optional

Description

City was running smoothly prior to update, with 75-80% average traffic / 14k exports
Since latest update...
- import/export halved
- overall industries are dying due to lack of import/export services.
- Roads are super congested at the busy cargo stations.
- Trains are way scarce compared to before.

@co_avanya This issue can be observed in the save (I submitted it before about another issue) which is a city created with the -noWorkshop command. You will observe that after a while the cargo train terminal nearest the high entrance starts to get clogged with trucks exiting the terminal and re-entering it again causing backups of trucks. Hope this helps. Anything else you need let me know. Barry

I'm experiencing the exact same issue here. It's happening on all my train cargo stations/hubs/airports.

If I move the camera so I can look directly into the opening of the building, there will always be a single truck just standing there - apparently stuck on the despawn point. If I delete the vehicle, the vehicle queue will immediately progress, but after a couple of minutes it will happen again with a another truck. This keeps happening forever.

Also, sometimes trucks get stuck on the pavement just outside the cargo station/terminal/hub/airport, stuck in a wild frenzied and glitched dance, just spinning around super fast (fish and post trucks?). Prior to today's patch, these vehicles would at least despawn after a quick 180 degree turnaround, but now they just get stuck on the pavement all glitched out.

I've even tried building a very short plain road going "into" the building (it often helps with traffic flow)... but it doesnt help at all. Both two way roads, with and without a hard median -- and one way roads... doesnt matter, they still get stuck.

I thought I would be clever and replace the cargo train terminal with one from the workshop. But it seems empty trucks are constantly going in to the terminal for no reason, exiting again and then driving round again.... I did notice a truck from the recycle centre that delivered its goods at the terminal and returned to its facility all as expected.

Could this issue have something to do with the new trucks that were introduced with the latest update rather than the cargo terminal itself?

hmm you know, the empty trucks... going in a loop - in and out of cargo buildings. I've seen this behaviour for a couple of months at least. I've noticed it with the large post trucks at the mail sorting center. This building is one of the very few buildings that actually has separate despawn and spawn points for its vehicles (they are on opposite side of the paved cargo area). And often you can see a single truck driving back and forth forever between the two points. It doesnt even drive out on the road. It just goes between the two points... its like 10 meters. And this blocks all other traffic into the building.

Ditto. Spent half my time in-game today playing with the shiny new DLC awesomeness and the other half babysitting five cargo stations so my industries & commercial zones don't slowly die without me realizing it (and it's come way too close for comfort a few times). :(

Happens with/without mods/assets, putting the station on both vanilla/BIG roads, yada yada...

Could this have to do with the new cargo trucks, even though this completely disoriented driver seems to be behind the wheel of a random truck "returning" to a random location each time? (And maybe consider revoking his drivers license so these companies stop hiring him?!)

(edit: the road in these screenshots is one-way FWIW.)

I've been having this issue -- cargo trucks/vans/etc "returning to facility" that are owned by my cargo airport hub. It seems like only some of them get stuck, but one getting stuck is enough to block everything behind it

I already reported this bug with Fish and Post trucks a while back. I feel inclined to thinking that either someone tried fixing this bug (and made it worse), or something in today's patch inadvertently affected this existing bug (and made it worse)

I got this too.
A few trucks (small or large) that get confused when they drive out of a vanilla train cargo station. Instead of returning to their "owner", they drive back into the cargo terminal, clogging all traffic.
The vehicles are owned by vanilla industries or warehouses.
Deleting the owning warehouse/industry or cargo terminal doesn't SOLVE the problem.
I didn't notice the behavior before yesterdays update.
I have not bought any of the new DLC's, and all mods are disabled.

Same problem. Empty trucks are going straight back into the terminal causing a traffic jam. The road usage craters (70% down to 20%) due to the resulting queues on the roads.

Yup, then industries collapse on themselves and zoned commercial gets abandoned from lack of goods (the dominos fall way quicker than I would have thought).

I hate sounding so melodramatic about something this simple but I just sat down planning to fool around some more with the new DLCs for a few hours and it's completely unplayable... First time I rage quit CS. :(

You can imagine hours of me pushing to 80% traffic just being crushed because of this bug.
Bumping this thread so hopefully CO see this and fixes it. I hope this is not the final state the game is.

Thank you for the reports, please attach an unmodded save with the issue if you have one as it helps when we're investigating the issue.

My city needs 81 tiles to function, so I unfortunately can't upload an unmodded city, however I do think the issue is cargo trucks trying to "Return to facility" to the wrong cargo transfer building. Here is a screenshot and then another zoomed out so that you can see how far away the actual station is

It would be nice with some sort of public message on this issue, @co_avanya ... for example on reddit, this forum, and in the Steam discussions. Just let people know that you're aware of the issue.

At the moment it's breaking the game for many people, and many of these players aren't active on this forum and will never see this thread, and are probably just pulling their hair trying to figure out why queues are destrying their city.
