Hello,

I am very new at CS and need some help. After expanding my first city I wanted to place an airport, but I get the following message:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]
Details:
No details

I have installed 0 mods.
I have installed 3 free DLCs: Pearls from the east / Match Day / and Carols, Candles and Candy.

Could someone help me with this issue?

I have the same error when placing an airport or cargo airport. I have mods but the error persists when they're disabled. Is this definitely a patch issue so just going to be a waiting game till it's fixed?

I can't reproduce this by simply placing an airport, so there are more complicated triggers if it's a bug in the game. Crashing on Xbox would hint at that because the main difference to Steam/Epic seems to be worse exception handling.

Mine occurs each time I try to place one and the game tries to load the model to place. As if I don't have my mouse over an area to show the model preview the error screen can be closed. But keeping the mouse over a spawnable area it continuously appears if that makes sense

I have the exact same issue.
I've even deleted all files from my computer. Install it again and it kept giving me the same error.
I've try by turning off all the mods or removing all of them and kept having it...

This one is really annoying. Got the same problem (System.NullReferenceException) when I try to build either of the airports. Quite a shame, I was really looking forward to build an airport once my city hit 48.000 :-(

Interesting thing is that the game doesn't outright crash, instead, an error message window in the style of the game menus pops up and it doesn't go away when I click any of the buttons on it, so I'm forced to Alt+F4 the game.
Playing the game from the Epic store, btw, so the issue seems to be present not only on Steam or Xbox.

Hi ! I have the same issue here. I load the game with no mod to be sure.

You can find a video in the zip file. And the output_log file.

To continue playing without leaving the game, you can place the mouse outside the game zone, and press the escape key. Then make sure you select an item other than the airport before placing the mouse back in the game zone.

Thanks

I have nearly the same Problem with the same error message

Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]
Details:
No details

but i have already airport build. My whole City is not show on map, only vehicles.
The Error Message is permanently show. I can click on Ok but its still show. Can't even left the game, only by canceling via task manager

I am using mods and workshop but the problem is even when mods and workshop are disabled.

THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

I am experiencing the same issue, without mods. The save file can be used to demonstrate it, if needed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the save file
2. Click into the Transit menu, and select either the Airport or Cargo Airport.
3. Move the mouse onto the play area (to place the airport) and observe the error dialog.

(Hold escape to close the dialog and all menus to get back to a playable state.)

I did also notice the same Null Reference Exception issue occasionally when changing bus route funding. It seemed to generate exactly one error message when each new bus spawned, although I was unable to confirm this for sure.

This city was created entirely after the 1.17.1 update.

Mods:
* None

DLC:
* Green Cities
* Industries
* Mass Transit
* Parklife
* After Dark
* Snowfall
* Sunset Harbor
* Plazas and Promenades
* Cont Creator Pack: Bridge and Piers

What the hell is this bug.

I've unsubscribed to 100% of items from Steam Workshop
I've completely deleted and reinstalled the game
I've verified the game files
I've tried on a save game
I've tried on a new game

When I click on Cargo Airport and then move mouse away from UI I get error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

I bought and installed Hotels DLC and Airports DLC... This appears to have resolved the issue for me

me to

I am having this same issue. I've disabled most mods, and had another game without this issue since the patch. What is causing this? I refuse to pay for DLC in order to fix a bug.
