I got it for free on epic games(sorry) and the launcher opens flawlessly. But whenever I try the play button it just doesn't work. There is no error message. I've tried deleting the paradox interactive file and reopen it, I've tried to delete the game entirely and re-download it, and I've tried starting the game straight from the eu4.exe and all of it didn't work. Help, please? (also the computer is pretty old but it meets all the recommended specifications)

Can you explain what happens when you try to start eu4.exe directly? Do you get any error message?

Disclaimer: I'm not working for Paradox. I'm just trying to help people.
As I said on the post I've tried starting it directly from the eu4.exe. And it did not work please help. I want to play it. I wnat to plat with miods a nd shgit

I know that you said that it doesn't work. But you didn't say in what way it didn't work. Can you say what exactly happens when you try it? If nothing happens, you are either not explaining it in enough detail, or you are not doing it properly. Are you actually double clicking on the file "eu4.exe" (and not on something else which might be called "eu4" or "Europa Universalis IV") in the windows explorer(not on your desktop or start menu)?

Yes, if you get some error when doing that we need to know what it is!

Otherwise :
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Sorry if I was being too agrressive there. Yes I did click the eu4.exe exactly and it didn't do anything. No error message came up at all and no notification about anything came at all. See this:

Well it did briefly show a small blue circle which is the feedback windows gives when it is launching a file. That's what I wanted to know to make sure that it was actually launched. I'm sorry that I was so rude about this.

Does it help if you start eu4 from within the epic games launcher and not via the desktop shortcut?
Otherwise the dxdiag and log message which AndrewT asked about would be helpful. I think the folder for the epic version would be "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV EGS" .

I'm sorry I didn't know you needed that information. Me kinda dumb ngl. I should start using 'absolutely' less from now on. Here is the dxdiag file and the pdx_settings.txt. (I couldn't find settings.txt, system.log, and error.log.)

There's no mention of this game in that dxdiag, which means the game never even got started.

You seem to have pasted the contents of dxdiag.txt into the pdx_settings.txt file. Delete that file and try the game again, does it make a new one?

And, is there a "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV EGS/logs" folder? If so what is in it?

On an unrelated issue, your machine is badly configured:
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 14284MB RAM
2gb of your 16gb is wasted, probably the AMD Vega 8 video is set to use those memory addresses. There will probably be a bios/firmware setting to address that.

Sorry if I'm a bit late. My computer broke but there was an important test so I didn't have any time to fix it. Now I have an entirely new one, but it still doesn't open.

Yes it does make a new one when I open the launcher.

No I do not have that folder.

Does your username maybe have non-ascii characters? IIRC this has caused problems for some people. You could try to create a new windows user with a simple name which only uses the letters a-z and no spaces, special characters or non-english letters.
