Good evening Kindred,

Today the countdown begins! We’re revealing the first of four playable clans available at release in Fall 2024 in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 today. Following launch, two additional clans will be made available in DLC: one giving you a new way to experience the main-game and another offering a completely unique Seattle story.

No huge surprise in which clan’s boot is kicking open the door first… Don’t get too comfortable though, there’s always something unexpected in World of Darkness.

Nicknames

The Learned Clan, Rabble, Punks, Hipsters, Prometheans, Rebels, Philosopher-Kings, Hellenes

Who are the Brujah?

The learned clan, the clan of radicals, the clan commonly misjudged as punks looking for trouble, the Brujah are guided by passion and dedication to an ideal. And if they have the supernatural strength to back that passion up, who are you to argue? Rebellion unites their blood, whether that rebellion is of the subtle lend me your ears kind or the fists out, fire in the streets sack of Rome kind is down to the individual.

Brujah powers enhance your speed and power

Playing a Brujah in Bloodlines 2

If you’re a player who leaves the shadows to the cowards, knows the frontline is where the fun is and idealistically rebels against power, Brujah is your clan.

In Bloodlines 2, Clan Brujah will offer a brutal melee playstyle with its abilities (in Vampire: The Masquerade, known as Disciplines) getting you into the fray and rewarding you for staying there. Exemplified in the video, our Brujah uses charge to gain a burst of momentum, grab an enemy, drag them with you and body slam them into a wall. Don’t assume you’re limited to charging just one enemy either. In early 2024, we’ll be back with a complete list of Brujah discipline powers you will be able to use in game.

What’s next?

Brujah is the first of four clans available at release in Fall 2024 and next week, we’ll be back with the second playable clan. The following week, we’ll be on Thanksgiving hiatus, before coming back to reveal the third playable clan.

Okay, that looks still a bit rough. I hope we see more gameplay soon.

And what do you mean with earning outfits.

Hopefully through experience/levelling and not through other means.

I assume it means that outfits aren't locked to your clan-choise. Ie assuming there's, dunno, a Ventrue, you can still run around in Brujah outfits and vice-versa (which imo is good. It's not like ALL Brujah run around like their cliche, and same for other clans. Though given that outfits have gameplay implications hopefully it won't force you into a choice nonetheless ^^; ).

will be made available in DLC
Why is this always put so weirdly? Or is it just me thinking it's a weird phrase? "Made available". Does this translate to "you can buy" or "you'll get alongside the release of..."? Or is it like that because that's not decided yet?

... not really expecting an answer, but thought I'd ask, in case it's not deliberate ^^;

Oh no! It's as I feared...
There's no difference in appearance between male and female Phyre. not even a moustache!

Also WTH is this??? What do you mean EARN? What is this for? Why would a ventrue ever wear a Brujah outfit? Are stats and abilities attached to it? LOL

So clans are reduced to combat style (Unless you pay for the DLC)... Unsurprisingly, EVERYTHING in this game is about combat.

I suspect that Chinese Room was developing a Dishonored clone and they sold the idea to Paradox that it would work like charm with a Bloodlines reskin.

That thought occurred to me as well. If they don't even supply different character models for the clans, then why even offer the choice (and why expect payment for them)? The first vamp game -redemption- had a predetermined character. Just don't call it bloodlines and you're good.

Also I believe a piece of the Tzimisce reveal made it into the trailer ^^

Compared to the wall slam stashing the entire enemy body in some sort of pocket dimension until they actually slam into somethin reaching through somebody's mask seems like minor space magic ;)

Hehe, yeah that looked kinda weird. As if the main char teleported through the enemy. I only got it when he reemerged that this is supposed to depict a body slam.

Next will probably be Gangrel, because it's also combat focused. Next two are apparently new.

If Malkavian is in at all, it'll be DLC because they know it's popular and want to charge extra.

We'll talk more about DLC next year. :)

Ah well... There are reasons. We'll talk about them next year!

Heck, I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but it is November, so a lot is going on next year.

Maybe don't bring up DLC if you aren't prepared to answer questions about it. Given the hostile reaction so far to much of what's been revealed, perhaps making an effort to address the concerns should be more pressing then vainly trying to tease people who think the game will be rubbish.

I'll add that when I see DLC being announced this early, it is an acknowledgement that you guys are leaving out content that could be included in the final release. Fans really hate this. You cannot design a new clan with reactions and unique story and just integrate it into an existing rpg. Either all the elements are already designed into it and the DLC is merely gatekeeping existing content, or the game barely acknowledges clan at all.

Mh, well. I can only speak for myself of course, but I don't really have a problem with "we'll come back to this". I'm fine with that being clearly communicated.

That being said, other than this tidbit, so far, I wouldn't describe communication as a "broken record" (maybe elsewhere? It's not like I searched every corner of the Internet for BL2 reactions ^^) as just complete silence interrupted by intermitted teasers that are then just left the void with no context ^^; Which is troublesome because the reactions are (generously put) mixed. And I don't know about anyone else, but generally I do feel some level of "we're hearing you" is appreciated ;)

Also, I wouldn't really expect some big early reveals about DLC or Clans or something just because so far people are very concerned. But surely there's smaller stuff that's easily put to the side - assuming it can be. Don't worry, there's other haircuts. Don't worry, you can change your protagonist's name (or even a "we've passed on your feedback to our creative team" - meaningless talk, whatever, somebody listened!). Don't worry, xyz. Pick a detail people are worried with. It'll demonstrate someone's listening and that somebody pretends enough to care. Which, again, generally appreciated ^^;

But eh, apparently I don't get game marketing and how this stuff works. [insert this is fine meme] ;)

I really, really, really, dont want to sound harsh ... but i cant find any other words. :-/

Bcs this feels like there is somebody actively trying to sabotage this game, and they are doing excelent job!

I dunno ... maybe its me. :-/
But with each week, and each "new reveal" i feel less and less interested in ... whatever this is even supposed to be. :-/
I thought that marketing should work other way around. :-/

But why even start revealing, if there is nothing you can (or are willing to) reveal? o_O

Btw since they used this term in both the last shown pieces of gameplay, however short they were, what exactly is "post-alpha"?

Going by the conventional definition of what an alpha is, this would suggest feature completeness, no?

Sorry to ask, maybe i don't get it, this is just a reveal, right? There is more information to come i hope.
Like, what will it be like to play with a Brujah, how will it react to the world differently from another clam and how the world will react to it?

And now i get why people are complaining about the gender neutral character... i can't even identify if "Phyre" is suppose to be a man or a women in that picture.

No, all of this is factually incorrect. They aren't leaving out anything. The full game is developed on the budget for the full game. The DLCs are developed separately on a budget for DLCs. If DLC didn't exist, that extra content wouldn't be developed at all. Having plans to make DLC content is very different from the DLC content being fully developed and ready to go at any time. For example, Paradox is releasing Legacy of Persia on Thursday. When they announced the DLC bundle back at the beginning of the year, no part of Legacy of Persia existed except for a concept art. They didn't just arbitrarily not include it in the release of Tours & Tournaments.
