Qorten has given me permission for this AAR to be fully interactive.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Yumahang Mundhum - A Himalayan iAAR.

RULES

First things first, here are the golden rules that all players must follow -

1. There must be clear distinction between Out of Character and In Character posts, which will be started with Character Names in large bold letters and an image of your character (do not worry, I will be providing you with updated images of your character as they progress). This will help to keep track of who is who and make things easier for everyone involved.

2. Each player can only pick one character. These "Player Characters" must be a member of my court. If you wish, you can even select a character who can join my court. For this, I will be uploading my save file from time to time whenever necessary.

3. The job of Player Characters is to advise the ruler, which will be controlled by me, in making major decisions (marriages, alliances, war, etc). Whenever a major decision needs to be made, I will allocate a certain amout of fixed time for voting. Within this time period, the players must vote through In Character posts.

4. Player Characters will be rewarded with titles whenever a war is successful and lands are taken (you will thus become my vassals and gain more powers but every player must first start with an unlanded character). Or when the ruler revokes the titles of a disloyal vassal.

5. I will notify players if any important events that happens to their character (a child is born, character gets sick or they join a plot, etc). You can roleplay and make In Character posts regarding these events if you wish to do so.

6. If a character dies, the player can choose to either play as the character's child or a completely new character in the court who will then be given an honorary title available.

7. A player whose character has died has the golden ability to pick a character who is already a vassal.

8. You can join any time.

9. Players should respect other players and no one will be allowed to make personal insults on other person Out of Character. I will terminate the character of anyone who violates this rule and prevent them for ever submitting another character.

Votes

The main actions taken by players throughout this iAAR will be through votes. However, not all votes are equal.

1. All Player Characters get 1 vote.

2. Player Characters who have gained landed titles get additional votes depending on your rank. Which means, +1 vote for baron or equivalent. A +2 vote if you hold a county or more. A +3 vote if you hold a duchy or more. A +4 vote if you hold a kingdom or more...You get the point.

3. You get +1 vote if you are a member of the ruler's council and +1 vote if you have a Court Position.

4. Player Characters who are close to the ruler (family, friend or lover) will get a further +1 vote. These votes stack if you are say both the lover and the spouse of the ruler or a friend or family.

5. If you have additional votes, you should include a note at the end of your In Character vote post mentioning so. Generally, I will keep track of those things but sometimes I might make mistakes. Better to include them if you have these extra votes so that other players can know as well.

First Vote

Without any further delay, let us being the first voting. Now, this will be done through Out of Character means. Future voting will have to be made by In Character posts (I will be sharing an example soon). Here, we are selecting which dynasty our Himalayan ruler will be from (and yes, we will be forming the Himalayan culture)

A. The Last Licchavi

The Last Licchavi.png

In Real Life, Manadeva IV was the last Licchavi king. This Buddhist dynasty had originated from Vaishali in Bihar, India and ushered the Golden Period of Nepal. Can this old man prevent the extinction of his dynasty?

B. Katyuri Kings

Katyuri Kings.png

Initially Buddhist, the Katyuri dynasty adopted Hinduism during the reign of Basantadeva's father. Over time, the Katyuri kings will be known for constructing several Hindu temples in Uttarakhand, India. Will the Katyuris be able to avoid dynastic fragmentation which plagued them in Real Life?

C. Lasahangs of Limbuwan

Lasahangs of Limbuwan.png

Uba Hang, the first Lasahang ruler of Limbuwan, had brought many changes to the animistic folk religion of the Kirati people. He had taught his subjects to worship Tagera Ningwaphuma with flowers and fruits instead of blood sacrifice and introduced the festival of Tong Sun Tong Nam to honor the supreme being. Uba Hang passed away in 865 and was succeeded by his son Mabo. Will the reign of this new Hang be able as fondly remembered as that of his father?

D. Father of Srijunga

Father of Srijunga.png

In Real Life, Srijunga Yangwarok is considered to be one of the greatest Kirati rulers to have ever existed for he invented the Srijunga script and introduced the land reform known as Kipat system (in which the land was communal property of a village or clan and could not be sold to outsiders). In the year 867, however, Srijunga is still a 9 years old boy and his father Jungahang is a vassal of the Lasahangs. Can Jungahang's son take over Limbuwan in the future?

E. Yuma Sammang of Yakthungs

Yuma Sammang.png

The Yakthung, also known as the Limbu, are a Kirati people who worship Yuma Sammang, the female personification of the supreme being Tagera Ningwaphuma, as Mother Nature. Yumaists are much more monotheistic and believe that the Kiratists have been corrupted by influences from neighboring Dharmic religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism. The religion is also exclusive to the Limbu people, in contrast to the Kiratist faith which has followers from all Kirati tribes. In Crusader Kings 3, Yumaism exists as an obscure faith which only exists in one county: Daramdin which is ruled by a man named Na Hang. Can Daramdin overthrow the Kiratist overlords and spread the word of Yuma Summang?

The Out of Character voting ends on Sunday February 4, 2024. After it is done, I will be sharing the save file and providing the list of characters which you can select to start this iAAR.

Former Player Character List

1. Mahendrani (@TheDeaconBosco)

1707560036277.png

Born:
28 April 846
Died: 9 August 869
Title: Courtier
Husband: Galijunga

Mahendrani was born on 28 April 846 in Koriya, Jharkand to lowborn Bengali Buddhist parents. She joined the court of Samanta Ladahachandra of Jharkand, a vassal in the Pala Kingdom, once she reached adulthood. She caught the eye of Galijunga, a Kirati Champion who had traveled far in search of his lifetime companion. The two were married on 7 January 867. The marriage would be short-lived as just two years later, on 9 August 869, 23 years old Mahendrani was killed during the raid of Daramdin by Gyalpo Tride Yumten of U. She is survived by her husband Galijunga (38).

2. Mokwan (@HistoryDude)

1707560086686.png

Born:
1 July 847
Died: 9 August 869
Title: Champion

Mokwan was born on 1 July 847 in a lowborn Limbu family. Despite his cowardly nature and lack of any fighting ability, he still managed to become a Champion in the barely 200-strong army of then Ngapo Na Hang of Daramdin. The one instance in his life when he displayed bravery, during the raid of Daramdin by Gyalpo Tride Yumten of U, it cost him fatally as the Tibetan raiders cut him down to make example of those who resisted them. At just 22 years of age, Mokwan passed away on 9 August 869 without anyone to remember him.

Aye, great to have you here as well! The mods have approved interactivity and we are good to go but let's wait for a couple of days and a few more people before we start, I guess.

It's always a treat to play around with obscure religions in Paradox games. The limited knowledge we usually have of them makes the flexibility the game provides feel more like a possible evolution of faith overtime rather than just a fun "what if".

Hug the tree or burn!
Option E

Whoa! All of a sudden E is in lead with 3 votes.

Ngapo Na Hang of Daramdin - January 867

Na Hang.png

Na Hang, the Ngapo of Daramdin, smiled when he saw Indhang arrive at the tavern they had selected to meet in secret. The smile quickly turned into a frown when he saw that Indhang had brought a man and a woman along with him.

Murder Scheme.png

"You do not need to worry, sir." Indhang reassured the Daramdin man. "These friends of mine will assist us in our plan."

The plan was to murder Prabhu Mabo Hang of Limbuwan and these friends of Indhang, the only Yumaist at Mabo Hang's court besides Na Hang himself, were named Oisum and Tiyen. The Ngapo of Daramdin was not sure how trustworthy these two Kiratist heretics were but he had faith in Indhang.

Murder List.png

Little did the two newcomers, or even Indhang, knew that Mabo Hang was only the first name in Na Hang's list of targets for murder. Even if the Yumaist man succeeded in ending the Lasahang dynasty by murdering Mabo Hang's son Muda Hang and grandson Wedo Hang as well, another Kiratist family would become Daramdin's new overlords. As such, Ngapo Jungahang and his son Srijunga had also been added into Na Hang's murder list.

By killing everyone on the list, he could become the ruler of a Limbu state where Yumaists were in power. The honorable method would have been declaring a war for independence but Daramdin could barely muster 200 men. Mabo Hang had twice the number of troops and Jungahang, who was extremely likely to support the Lasahangs if a Yumaist rebellion ever took place, had an army of over 500 men. As such, Na Hang was firm in his decision that murder was the only means to free the Yumaist faithful from Kiratist subjugation.

San Hang.png

The thought of having to murder 7 years old Wedo Hang Lasahang and 9 years old Srijunga Yangwarok made Na Hang uncomfortable. Not because he cared for the boys but because he feared that someone else might plot to murder his son San Hang one day. Perhaps it was time to marry and father more children but that could lead to instability as his lands would have to be divided after his death. The Ngapo of Daramdin decided it would be best to ask his courtiers on whether he should get married and if so, to whom.

First voting session with In Character posts in here now. There are the options -

A. Remain Single (we don't want political instability in the future)

B. Marry Someone (if so, whom...choose from the save file)

C. Just Take one or more Concubines (if so, whom...choose from the save file)

D. B and C (if so, whom...choose from the save file)

Things to remember before you vote -

1. You must select a Player Character. I will now be providing a list of them in the next post.

2. Make sure to have "Player Character Name - January 867" heading like I did before voting In Character. You should also include your Player Character portrait which wil be provided below.

3. Since you will all be picking a new character, you will all get just 1 vote and no bonuses this time.

Voting session ends on Thursday February 8, 2024.

List of Selectable Player Characters on January 867

Amla.png

Mokwan.png

Ityang.png

Galijunga.png

Manghama.png

The above are all characters already at the court. Since we are in 867 and have almost no money to recuit people, I decided to increase the list of playable characters by allowing you guys to play as characters who can join the court through marriage to one of the courtiers above. However, you must say which of the above characters you wish to marry in order to join the court this way. 3 such people are available right now -

Thank you for the update. I will take the 24yo honorable planner, Ityang. Can you tell me what the three traits are so that I may role play in the future? Why does she have a -21 opinion of her lord? (I am unfamiliar with CK3.)

I would vote for my liege to marry (B) but as a lowborn that is far above my pay grade.

Ityang's traits are actually Calm, Honest and Gluttonous. The reason she has -21 opinion of her lord is because Yumaism is Unreformed and Na Hang is Craven.

Also, could you write in this format in the future -

Ityang - January 867 [or other date]

[In Character Statements]

(OOC: Out of Character Statements here. I vote for Option B, etc)

This way we will all have easier time knowing who is who and what they look like and what their traits are. As well as what they voted for.
