Thanks for the update! Do you know if that will be applied automatically in some way, or we'll have to point each user to ASUS for that?
You’re welcome.

No it’s not applied automatically. After updating the BIOS a new option will show up called “Intel Baseline Profile” and you’ll have to toggle it on.

Thanks again!

Do we know if only ASUS have done this? At the least MSI are affected too.

After running the game from 1836 to 1960s (as of now), I can confirm that in this specific play through, I did not experience any crashes until the specific end date of the game, 1936. However, I did experience crashes (twice thus far) from 1950s onwards.

My takeaway from this particular play through at least is that while the Intel Base Line profile setting does appear to measurably reduce crash occasions, it does not completely fix the issue.

I hope the developers can perhaps try to further mitigate this issue from their side by releasing further patches and hot fixes.

My brother and I sort of had a breakthrough of some sort this morning regarding what is it we do on the game that triggers our crashes. We previously thought these crashes were timed randomly but now we know that they tend to occur shortly after pushing the button to upgrade our battalions.

Not sure if this finding is relevant to this particular issue or if I need submit a bug report. Can someone please advise on if I should submit it separately or not?

If you can reproduce a crash reliably using a save game, followed by a specific set of UI actions, it's more likely that you've found a bug than that the CPU has a random hickup. If you want to be sure, you could always apply one of the earlier mitigations (run at a game speed lower than 5, use affinity to run the game on less cores, etc). If it still crashes at the same spot with the same set of UI actions, it's most likely a game bug somewhere.

I am also having these crashes, so far I have found no common threads or actions that caused it.

Are you using an affected Intel CPU model, on an affected bios/system board?

If so, what have you tried from this thread so far? Post #54 is a good starting point.

CPU yes, i7 13700k

MOBO maybe, I don't have an ASUS MOBO. I am using a Z790 AX from Gigabyte. So I don't have those same settings that are recommended in the thread.

I tried the suggestions in post 54, but I am not super tech savvy on the overclocking stuff. So I followed as best I could, so maybe it is still a matter of tweaking.

What is weird is that vic 3 was working just fine up until about a week ago when this suddenly started happening.

i did the first one , i've updated it's Bios , but how i can enabled the 'Intel Baseline Profile” in motherbord ?
I don't know, as I don't have an ASUS. Do you not see that option in the bios?

Version 3501

"The update introduces the Intel Baseline Profile option, allowing users to revert to Intel factory default settings for basic functionality, lower power limits, and improving stability in certain games.

Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding intel ME to version 16.1.30.2307. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.

Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (MZ690F.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."

Thanks for that info, but can you go into that new bios once installed, and see that option there?

So this is weird, I am getting the same crashes in Hoi4 now too. I cannot figure out what is going on

It is unlikely they are the same crashes. Please make a new thread in HOI4 tech support with full problem history and system details, and we'll look into it.

Will do.

All my attempts at fixing it for Vic 3 have also failed, now it just crashes instantly. Any other recommendations?

Literally just tried "one last thing" and that seems to have worked, need the latest BIOS update for this setting.
