Has it ever worked, or neer yet?

Any JavaScript or other error show?

Please delete the ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and paste in ~/Library/Application Support/ . Then run the game from the PLAY Button in Steam, to reinstall the launcher.

If that does not get the launcher running, we will need these files from that same folder:

Attach ALL .log files Found here ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/

Hi, ParadoxTeam
Actually, I have the same problem since the new patch. At least, before it - it worked correctly.
According to your message, I have also tried to delete the Paradox Interactive folder - but nothing happened. It is still not working, just a constant load of the paradox launcher and in steam it crashes.
I have MacBook on m2, if it makes difference, with Monterey 12.5 installed
in folder @launcher v2 there are files but system says that they are empty and does't allow me to attach them.
Thank you :)

Unfortunately, but I can't attach them: they are unavailable
and it s impossible either to open them, as they say that the "origin file is not found"

I wonder if we are looking at the wrong Application Support folder there - if you see anything to do with the launcher when you hit PLAY in Steam (which you apparently do, per your OP here) the logs must exist.

Go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and paste in ~/Library/Application Support/ then scroll down to /Paradox Interactive/ then in that to /launcher-v2/

Hi, I have the same issue as reported here. When I try to start the game via Steam, the Paradox Launcher just sits there, loading endlessly. Also, I tried what is suggested here, deleting the suspected folder. However, it simply gets regenerated once I click on Play again and nothing changes. Another thing that I tried: Start Cities Skylines directly via Steam's launch options. The game process will start, rendering the game on a separate desktop (fullscreen), but the screen remains black, nothing happens in the game.

This is most likely the case since one of the latest patches, since it has worked in the past, but the last time I tried to start the game was like ~6 months ago.

Anyways, I attached the requested launcher log files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi AndrewT, thanks for your quick answer.

Here is what I did so far: First, I removed the Paradox Interactive folder from Application Support. After that, I tried the installer. I put the Paradox Launcher into the Application folder and ran it from there directly. This launcher seems to work, yes. However, I can't start any games with it, since it doesn't detect my steam games (probably due to its location in the Application folder?). However, even after the installation and being able to run it directly, when trying to run it from steam, the old launcher gets reinstalled, with the same picture as before (endless loading spinner). Something important that came to my mind that might be the cause of the issue, particularly also not being able to run the game (Cities Skylines): I got a fairly new MBP with an Apple M1 Max chip...

All the best

That puts the launcher in a standalone non-Steam-compatible mode, for users who don't want to run Steam. This game was never ported to that platform so will never appear in the launcher run in that way.

The launcher must be fired off from Steam, and so must be in the default location under the ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive/ folder.

The issue is still not fixed... When launching Imperator: Rome on my MBP M1 Max 32GB I have launcher that is constantly loading and eventually terminating.
The only way around it that I found is:
1. Delete Paradox launcher from "~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive"
2. Launch another paradox game (I used Vicky 3) - the new launcher will be installed. BTW launcher was not getting installed for me when I tried this step with the Imperator: Rome itself, which is why I used Vicky 3 for this trick
3. When Paradox launcher for Vicky 3 launches - it'll ask for an update. I did not reboot it and did not install the update here, just closed it.
4. Launch Imperator: Rome - the Paradox launcher will be launched and you can start the game from it

FYI there is no general issue with running this launcher on Mx Macs. Can I get launcher logs from just after you next experience this problem please?

I have the same problem. Here are the Logs. Mac M2 2022. The game generally crashes quite often. Most times when a nation is formed or when I form a nation. Is that a known issue?

There are no nations in this game, it is a city builder. And you mention the game crashing, whereas this thread is about our launcher not starting - so not the same problem at all!

Please make your own new thread i the Tech Support forum of whatever game you are having a problem with, and give full problem details and history there. Thanks.

This is a misunderstanding. The crashes are a seperate problem. The launcher is indeed also crashing. I was stoned thinking this is about EU4. But I also cant start Cities Skylines. So this is the same problem.

Reinstalling did not work for me. Here are the log files. I use a Mac M2 if that is relevant. Edit: There were two more .log files, but they are empty.

Edit 2: Aha! I can start the paradox launcher itself from the folder, but not from Steam. Can I somehow import my steam games into my paradox account in order to start them that way?

Good day - Same issue with Paradox launcher not working when trying to play EU4. I am on MAC OS 10.13. I know Steam has stopped running on that version but i was still able to play EU4 up until 2 weeks ago. I can't upgrade above MAC OS 10.13 as my MAC is from 2012! Hopefully you can suggest a fix. Attached are the logs. thank you

Actually you don't have the same issue, as they had MacOS 13.x and you have 10.x - the PDX launcher seems to need at least 12.x now. But that happened way more than 2 weeks ago ?!?

We'd have to install an older launcher from a game that comes with it - maybe EU4, not sure? Then prevent that launcher from updating.
