I had to do some computer fixes and fresh install of my OS, unfortunately it brought back the crashing. Now the game won't even get to the menu screen before crashing. Hate to say I will wait for the stability patch from Intel, but that seems like the most reasonable thing to do.

Think I am also in the boat of having to wait and see if intel's patch will fix these issues. I tried everything and followed the mod's suggestion to read up on this thread but nothing worked. It still crashes. Fingers crossed the patch will be out soon.

Not sure if anyone else is in a similar boat, but the CPU instability has gotten so bad for me that apparently basic functioning of the computer is failing. Like sometimes apps will just crash, or I will get a blue screen.

If you are getting that (random system file errors that don't resolve, crashes, bsod) RMA your CPU. I am waiting on Intel to process my request now.

Just make sure your BIOS is updated to the latest version to prevent further damages to your new chip.

And just be extra careful in general.

Absolutely, I actually thought it was my mobo that was bad, so had that inspected. Currently on F12f for Gigabyte which is for now the most recently patch with the Intel updates.

But still can't get Vic3 to play. Got it past initialization, but now it crashes when it tries to get to the country select screen.

Not only did disabling the e-cores fix my CK3 crashing on the latest patch, but it also fixed crashing I was experiencing in another game. I can now play without any crashes! I cannot thank you enough OP, and all the others doing research into this! THANK YOU!!

Actually the eCore and 12-14gen Intel CPU issues are separate (not to mention that the known issues with eCores were fixed in this game long ago). If you have an affected Intel CPU I strongly suggest you update the bios ASAP.

To be fair I updated the bios at the same time. Maybe that's what fixed it, then! The only actual setting I changed was the eCores.

So, in my case, all I did was set a few limits to the internal CPU power management and it seems to have worked, maybe give it a try.

I disabled Asus Multicore enhancement, set CPU Current Limit Max to 307A and set Long/short duration package power limit to 253W.

Same 14700 same isssue, but it is strange that bios announced last month was fine, and now I upgrade to newest 12B mirco code then the game keep crashing. Two bios update I do just between ten days so it is no way the cpu suddenly break. And for now, I only find this crash problem also in ck3 and all tests are fine.

Then maybe you have a new and unrelated issue with CK3. Although CPUs do absolutely "suddenly break" sometimes!

Please make a new thread in CK3 Tech Support and we'll look at your case more closely.

I post another post in tech support. And for my case, I tested 10.5-12.9 microcodes Maxsun in same platform at the same time, all stable in Maxsun default setting. Only 12B microcode need intel default setting to keep stable. Though all base on my own case, I can not that sure without having much information about other man with this issue, maybe new crash reporters can provide their microcode version and platform brand to see if really any relationship here.

Just a quick note/update for people. I got my chip RMA'd and everything works perfect now.

If you have tried everything in this thread and are still getting stability issues, it seems like it is hardware.

oh my, I am not a windows user and this all sounds so scary. I just bought a new computer thinking that getting the latest chip and video card was the best route to play this game... I am having second thoughts about keeping it, as I am experiencing a lot of flickering shadows, and long traces of objects going by at only 1000 people in the city. if anyone has a way to tell me how to go around this, I would really appreciate it. my computer specs are these:
  • INTEL Core i9 14900KF 3.2GHz (5.6GHz Max Boost) CPU Processor | 1TB NVME Gen4 Up to 30x Faster Than Traditional HDD | 360mm AIO
  • NVIDIA Geforce 4070 Super | 32GB DDR5 RAM RGB Gaming Memory with Heat Spreader | Windows 11 Home 64-bit

If this is a brand new CPU I believe it should be okay. Absolutely check you have the very latest bios version!

The flickering shadows don't sound like a CPU issue though.

Breen running into a similar situation with my setup, had to upgrade my Intel to i9-14900

My game is crashing on initialization now.

So far, did all the typical troubleshooting steps, reinstalled, check file integrity, cap FPS at 60, running fullscreen, Vsync set to OFF, even set my P-Cores to just 0-7 but it seemed temporary.

I'm not clear if you are saying you still have a problem or not.

If you do, have you updated your bios recently, say in the last month?

Sorry,

Yes, the problem is still persisting even after I had to install a new CPU. BIOS was also updated about a month ago.
Then it seems unlikely you have the problem discussed in this thread. Please make a new thread in the tech support forum of an affected game, with full problem history and system details, and we'll look into it with you.
