(power gap)

Yuan - it's Minging time.
France - Big Blue Blob time.
Austria - inbreeding time.
Mamluks - not a horror game where you inevitably get annexed by the Ottomans.
Poland - POLSKA GUROM
Any of the new world tags in America - flavour.

I don't have a 10, so im just gonna post my top 3.

1. Cyprus - a small nation with a good and safe starting location, seems ideal for learning the game mechanics, especially trading and such. Also I hope for a bunch of flavour given it's the last holdout of the Crusaders
2. Poland - a big nation with a lot of expansion options, but what I'm most curious about is how on earth is Paradox going to handle the highly complex dynastic and geopolitical situation that led to the formation of polish-lithuanian commonwealth. To give an abridged history, Casimir the Great died without a male heir, and so he decided to make Louis I of Hungary his heir, which formed a polish-hungarian union. Then Louis also had no heir, so he made his daughters queens of Hungary and Poland, which broke the union. Polish nobility decided that Jadwiga should marry Jogaila of Lithuania (despite the fact that she was originally bethroded to some german prince), which then led to the polish-lithuanian union. (tbh my goal is to just continue the Piast dynasty and focus westwards, retaking rightful polish lands of silesia and pomerania)
3. Kanem Bornu - this nation is surrounded with alum and ivory, which make for excellent trading resources with north africa and (indirectly) europe. It also has no serious enemy beyond Mali which is headed for a crisis historically. Very curious to see if I could make it into an economic superpower and become advanced enough to stop europeans from colonizing that area.

I like playing nations that historically start small and become big.
1. England (don't care about it, so good tutorial)
2. Moscow
3. Ottomans
4. Venice (to learn how trade works)
5. Portugal (to learn how colonisation works)
6. Ayutthaya (one location minor start sounds fun)
7. Timur
8. One of the Swiss cantons (much needed peace after Timur)
9. Brandenburg (for a full campaign)
10. One of the Daimyos (for a short one)

My first 10 playthroughs will be, in somewhat chronological order;

1. Theodoro > Spain (Kingdom of the Visigoths, hopefully it'll be possible to change religion back to the Germanic faith (Norse))
2. Sweden (Norse)
3. Greenland (Gotta try at least once)
4. Lithuania (Romuva)
5. Crusader States > Latin Empire
6. Gurgan > Ilkhanate (Tengri)
7. France > HRE
8. Bohemia (Hussite)

1. Frisian Freedom. I think it will be awesome to play a tall trading nation in PC
2. Yuan. But not as Yuan, I want to start a Southern Dynasty
3. Portugal. Colonizing empire.
4. Japan. The Daimyo runs in EU4 were always fun, so I hope it will be a similar madness in PC.
5. Byzantium. Restore the empire to its Basil II size.
6. Form Persia in some sort of way
7. Form some sort of indian empire.
8. Georgia. Defend the Caucassus from heretic invaders.

By then were already a year or two along the road and DLC's will determine whats next. ;)

4. Sunda (or Majapahit)
5. Japan

1. Roman Empire

Goals:
survive
destroy Ottomans and other invaders
recapture Jerusalem
recapture Egypt
recapture Italia
recreate the Justinian borders at minimum

2. Poland

Goals:
recreate the XVII century borders
colonize the world

And that would be basically it in EU IV. I once tried to play as England but became bored very quickly. In such games I roleplay a lot so I need to feel some connection to the nation I play as.

BUT the introduction of pops made things interesting. Both I:R and Vicky 3 made me play different nations just to see how I will manage those pops, shape the society and grow internally, so there's a nice chance I will finally try to play as someone else. Among the most possible options:

3. some Mayan country (unite Mexican area, resist colonization, survive)

4. Japan (to find out how the emperor-shogun-clans dynamics will look like)

5. Tibet (survive between the powers plus an old fascination with the place and culture)

6. Kilwa (I love Tanzania)

7. Scotland (that one's on you, Mel)

8. something in India (similar fascination to Tibetan one)

9. slaver empire from Western Africa (war crimes go brrrrr)

10. Papal States or Florence/Pisa
