ooooh please! am i the only one waiting for animations in this game?! I want to see firefighters putting out fires, police stopping robberies, paramedics saving lives, buildings being built! Protests if services aren't working! Simcity 4 did it in 2003! it's 2025, it should be the priority seriously!
I know it's not a popular opinion but honestly the asset editor doesn't interest me. above all, i want a game that is pleasant to watch, a game with an economy that works.

Sorry, this is a Google translate from a French player who is fed up with the choices of one of the studio members. I usually just read the comments. But I really feel like players are forgetting that this is first and foremost a simulation game before being a city painter game.

We shared as much as we can about the Asset Editor on Thursday, and as to Bridges & Ports, all we can say is that we're working on it (as unsatisfying as that both is to hear as it is to say). More news will come as soon as we can share it!
Announced and pre-sold in Oct 2023 for a release Q2 2024 and you're still working on it in march 2025? Seriously?

and unsure you'll release it Q2 2025
They didn't say that.

I'm new to the series, and am only playing CS1 at the moment so it's neat to see new content for it. Although that comes with a patch and lots of mods breaking, of which the mod creators may not even be active anymore at this point. D:

As far as I understand it's only a few comemorative assets added no actual patch so mods should be fine

I am reading the announcement in the same way:
Free Cities: Skylines Anniversary Special patch - New Parks
10 years of Cities: Skylines and a small tribute to this long journey.

Celebrate a decade of city-building with free parks that reflect the expansions you own. The Cities: Skylines 10th Anniversary patch includes 3 new parks. Each park dynamically adapts to the DLCs you own—creating a personalized tribute to your unique city-building journey.
My understanding is that this "Special Patch" will only include the new parks and no functional changes in the game.

Haha the absolute GALL it takes to release a subscription service in the current environment is just *chef's kiss*... I almost respect the audacity. Almost.

The subscription model is for CS1, not CS2.
And for CS1 it may make sense as it will offer you access to all DLC's (which in total would cost you a ton of money).

It's still a subscription which will ultimately cost people more money over time, as they'll pay for the DLC many times over.
To that I agree.

If I were a player new to CS1, depending on the terms of that service, I would test it like a month or so to check out what I like and what not and then I would buy the stuff I am interested in.

Oh I'm fully aware. But pretending this announcement/Bday celebration is anything other than presenting another way to collect revenue is an exercise in futility. Also, there is a wonderful use of "yet" at the end of that statement.

edit: I understand it makes sense for CS1 with the amount of DLC. I just can't unsee what's happening and it's poisoned any optimism.

I agree that this announcement was a major blunder as far as CS2 is concerned.
I do like though that CS1 will get new stuff - and it feeds my silent hope that they will revive in some way. Here's still hoping for a CS1 1.5 or CS1 enhanced or so.

This DLC has been postponed 4 times so could you please clarify your post? Which one is it:

* We can't give you a release date as we're still working on it but rest assured it will be released Q2 2025, no more postponings.

* We can't give you a release date as we're still working on it but it could be postponed again.

Considering Q2 2025 is the date given everywhere the UE edition is sold, it's a very different situation than the asset editor, the bikes or the animations.

I edited my post and replaced the controversial part of the sentence.

This. They can't chastise you for making an inference based on vague information that implies a delay. You're not slandering them for heaven's sake.

Well. I'm hoping the CS2 patch is of a decent size. Still waiting for my METRO CROSSINGS.

As others have mentioned, the CCPs are not the most versatile. I will enjoy the leisure venues, although prepare to get a lot of backlash if you do not have corresponding animations. Dragon Gate will be useful for China towns, although not every city really has one. Mediterranean Heritage has no interest from me, feels like an add on to the region packs.

As for CS1 content, myself and many other players find it too difficult to transition back. Although I appreciate the care going back into it. Both of the packs here would have been great for CS2. Especially if some mechanics was added to the rural pack to encourage building some homes outside of city limits.

Wow that's pretty...demotivating. I hoped for something like a timeline for animations, bikes and maybe better textures.
But now this announcement and the reaction to the question about bikes in the podcast to bikes...all in all it becomes a little bit outrageous imho.

I see, that it's nice for the cs1 players that there will new stuff too - defnfitly but:
CS1 doesn't need it so much because..it has an editor and tons of good assets at the workshop. And the other problem for me are the technical issues of CS1 because of it's age - biggest one: no multicore support!
So yeah no backways to CS1 for me..and less hope for CS2. Not a good day for me personally :-(

Someone mentioned Cities in Motion 2. That was really pretty similar. It had better graphics but was just made with less love than Cities in Motion 1 and in the end becomes quietly abandoned.
