Heyho,

Every month Im playing the game lags every month (sometimes several times a month).

Im currently playing as a wanderer, so basicaly almost nothing in other realms is visible to me, yet it keeps lagging. Interestingly enough, it only started doing so after I once helped someone in a war. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this or do I have to simply have to buy a better pc or upgrade some parts of it because my pc is not good enough to handle it?

My PC specs:
- Corsair Carbide 275R
- MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus
- AMD RYZEN 9 3900X - 3,8GHz
- Corsair Vengeance 32GB(3000Mhz)
- Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB (M.2)
- 2000GB Hard Disk
- NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB
- Onboard - 7.1 HD audio Realtek ALC1220
- Corsair Hydro H75 2018
- Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme
- Corsair AF120 2.0(Wit)
- Seasonic Focus Gold 750 (750Watt)

I hope some of you know how to help me improve the performance of the game, without it going to look ugly.

Is this only in this one particular campaign, are you saying? You can start or play other ones okay?

Any mods in use?

It kinda happens in all games, just in some games it happens less frequently or at a later date. This current game as wanderer has become unplayable since it happens every month twice now. Besides freezing, it even for a short moment of time shows the mouse as a circular loading icon, as if its almost about to crash.

I use a few mods, though all of them are not very taxing and some are intended to make the game less laggy:
- Medieval Arts (56.91MB)
- Nameplates (753.82KB)
- Manor Domicile Feudal/Clan (1.86MB)
- Alleged Infertility (7.22MB)
- Unadventurer (for adventurer-related lag/performance issues) (189B)
- Remove Some Land on the Map [Performance Help] (29.06MB)

Just to see if it's something with the mods, Im going to play vanilla for a while.

After playing for 10 years in vanilla mode as wanderer, the lags have returned, although these take ~5sec instead of 10sec.

Another thing to add is that it seemingly has nothing to do with speed. The lag happens both a speed 1 as well as speed 5.

We can't help with modded games here, so disable them all while we work on this with you here.

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.txt

I see you are in Windows mode, with a higher resolution than your Windows desktop.

Can you do both these steps please?

BUT this time also choose 1920x1080 as the game resolution too, just as a test. Is that any better for you?

I also see a number of AppHang events against this game in that dxdiag - you are getting this as well as the lag you mention?

Where do I find the ck3.exe? I always launch my game from steam and when clicking on the icon on my desktop and go to properties, I don't see compatibility.
Also, I have no clue what AppHang events are. How should I experience those? Do you mean that when playing the game and when it pauzes, it also goes windowed, shows my taskbar, and the mouse becomes a blue circle, because that is sometimes indeed happening.

Where do I find the ck3.exe?
Right click on the game in your Steam Library, manage, browse local files. Go into the /binaries/ folder , ck3.exe is there.

This is what I see, not sure if something is wrong?

You can see ck3.exe there ; it shows as just ck3 because your Windows is set to hide file extensions.

Yeah, so when I click on it, I can't find 'compatability' as shown on the screenshot. Whats going wrong?
In that screenshot you have right clicked on the binaries folder, not ck3.exe .
