As a player with 4497 hours invested in this game, I am truly disappointed and saddened after reading this journal.

It’s fine if bug fixes are delayed. I can accept slight delays in updates, it’s okay.

However, when we’re dealing with a situation where "bug fixes are delayed AND updates are late." I believe the situation is very different.

First of all, our India journal was released on November 21st, and yet serious bugs, including game-breaking ones that make progression impossible, still haven’t been fixed.

<The infamous journal in question>

And if you’re wondering if these bugs are only present in India, that’s not the case either. In the Qing region, there’s still a troublesome bug where the Opium War defeat penalty is ignored, which is extremely frustrating.

That said, is the DLC content packed and updated quickly? Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. The Balkan Flavor Pack is missing the Ottoman and Greek nations, and the Trade DLC raises concerns as to whether the AI will function correctly, considering the aforementioned issues.

Is there a shortage of staff? Or is something else going on? Of course, there must be a reason for all of this, but as a consumer, I have to say this:

Please, make sure to fix the bugs and update the game promptly. With June 17th coming up, I can already see a mirage of bug fixes being ignored while the team goes on their summer break, and that thought fills me with worry.

Alexhesse said on the Discord server just today there's around 30 devs currently, KaiserJohan also today admitted on the subreddit that there's currently a programmer bottleneck (with a gentle notice about currently hiring)

Would be interested to see how that number compares to the other flagship games in like Stellaris and CK3 especially

Apparently

idk how large those are at the moment, honestly. maybe equivalent? EU4 might be a bit smaller? CK is definitely larger at least

With bugs, prompt clear reports are the best chance of having them fixed quickly. I see so many reports that don't have a save or clear steps for reproduction which makes it hard for the devs to diagnose the issue.

Further, as the devs have stated, there is an overhead cost to each patch and hotfix they release, which means they prefer larger, less frequent patches to smaller, more frequent ones.

Of course, following a major patch, there are a number of hotfixes, but at a certain point, they have to work towards the next major patch rather than continue hotfixing.

Frankly speaking, there’s no reason why we should consider that. We are 'consumers' and we have the right to receive quality content.
Let’s be honest here. The Victoria 3 and East India Company DLCs being sold right now are essentially defective products.
I really want to have a positive view of the development team, but my patience is running thin.
If consumers show respect for the developers, shouldn’t the developers also respect the consumers?

I always like reading your guides and strategies you post here but I find it really funny that at 4.500 hours you have ~1/3rd of the achievements lol
Ahaha... Some people don't really like achievements.
In the Korean community where I'm mostly active,
there are people who really like achievements and often clear them at a very fast rate, but unfortunately,
I don't really feel anything for achievements (even if I clear them).

Look, they're charging us a constant stream of money from our wallets in order to maintain the game, are you honestly suggesting that it's the customer's fault for not writing "prompt clear reports" for them to recognize the bugs in their software?
What now, are we expected to write story items, assign them story points, have daily meetings with the devs asking them how they're doing and whether they need anything, etc?
Of course, if people want to do a formal bug report full of evidence, steps for reproduction etc, they're free to do so, but you can't EXPECT customers to do it, they're paying for the product ffs

respectfully disagree. they shouldnt "at certain point" work towards the next content update that gets them paid before finishing what they got paid for before. you can argue that what they have delivered so far is indeed "done" as advertised, but i think many here will disagree.

Hello thanks for sending us this feedback, the Indian Home Rule issue where GB will not accept EICs request to democratize is known about and fixed for 1.9/Charters of Commerce's release!

Thank you for the info but the main problem is that these bugs (several nasty bugs were already reported in 1.8) have been known for a long time and we players have to wait for the other two months (at least) to be fixed in 1.9.
And as we already know big redesigns as planned for 1.9 will bring many other bugs so we need to wait for 1.9.3 or 1.9.4 to have a working version of V3
This is not a good approach from Paradox

7-8 months of a fundamentally broken (and boring/frustrating) DLC and major game issues with no patches or addressing of the issues.

I personally feel the amount of bugs currently in Vic3 and HOI IV is disappointing.

I personally wont be buying any new vic3 content because out of this. Unless a DLC provides me with enough vale (and doesnt lock any vital mechanics under it, if it does im vetoing it) AND it has all it bugs fixed (which at this rate it might mean easily 1 year after launch) i wont be buying it
