I have over 2k hours into EUIV, most of which was within the first five years... to be a college student again... Anyways, I take offense to the idea that streamers gain early access to the game. I cannot think of anything more boring than watching streamers.

So why not just offer an early access version of the game? Usually Early Access games on steam are discounted, but I'd pay full price. Hell, I'd pay a little extra even. Point is, as someone who has been here since EUII and gave over a quarter year of my life to EUIV, I find it insulting to be passed over for a few social media narcissists.

I don't think one thing necessary would exclude the other, nor I think it was a bad idea to give it to streamers, many people watch them and it's a great way to increase awareness of the product. I really wish they'd use a broader early access to playtest the system to generate more feedback and more valuable one also probably.

No. I'm absolutely willing to take this as a official announcement from PDX. After failed launch after failed launch, they finally are trying a fundamentally different approach at develloping a game, bringing in community feedback for over a year now, long before the official announcement. Because of this, everybody was well aware that the game was going to be EU5 to the point people joked about not knowing what game Project Ceasar was. Because of all this, the actual announcement had to be different, because simply announcing the game wasn't going to cut it. What would we, the fans, get to know that we didn't know already? This whole strategy is meant to increase the quality of the product on release, and releasing a early access would fly completely in the face of that, and completely in my face at that. The official announcement has, with a few hickups (love you Lambert), been handled well. I've been very critical of PDX on this forum, but they seem very willing to change and improve. And I have to give credit where it is due.

This attitude is why preorder scams work :D

This! Since they were giving a chance to people outside of developpement to play the game before the game was even announced they couldn't trust anyone with it.

What they are doing is very different from what they were doing before and it's a step in the right direction to avoid the issues they faced on earlier releases. It would be a slap in the face if they used to give early access to any players but they didn't. I like what they are trying and I don't care some people got the "privilege" to play it earlier because not many people can understand what an alpha early access means and how unstable it can be to play.

pre order will keep working because peoples can be excited ( also if it fail peoples can still refund it so idk what the fuss is all about)
other thing is that some of us rather buy the thing now while we can instead of waiting till release and then we cant .

peoples have reasons to pre order and as i said no one is fooled because if its bad it will show and you can always make a refund .
a scam is if you cant refund at all like how MMOs do when you buy their products and you want your money back

Nah, i think it was a good move.
Streamers are more likely to have better PCs, can be restricted by embargoes to not mention extremely indev parts, don't necessarily need a separate build and it allows Tinto to get more feedback
and more rumors spreading passing them for fact and accusations and bragging too *cough Ludi Cough*
dude played 200 hours then said that all others are not knowing what they talking about and then to soften it up he said "with all respect" then he did proceed to talk about somethings that the devs denied the same day .

Ludi alone have lead to a lot of erroneous feedback and panic based on his false assumptions because he focused on the wrong things or assumed them wrong , like what he said about the Ui and the little portrait .
i found smaller streamers more fun and professional than any of the big ones. smaller ones not only they knew how to show fun gameplay like Lookas et bella but most also knew how to blend gameplay and criticism unlike laith who idk what he was trying to do with his weird video format

Anecdotally I only watched Florry and Lemoncake and I didn't come across anything troublesome. If certain people want to ruin their own reputation spreading false rumours then they won't get invited to such outreaches again

2k hours in an old paradox game is quite common. You see this as a reward to streamers but it is just marketing
2k hours gang rise up! :D

It's also feedback gathering from the community without going full early access.
And its working, and that’s good.
No one wants this game to flop.

its part of marketing as you have to build hype and preorders for a game. You'll sell the most games at release if its a hit and regardless of what happens you tend to lose 80% of your player base 3 months after release.

I watched several videos from Generalist Gaming, Florryworry, Quill18, ClioAite, and others, all of which were fairly informational and had their criticisms properly bedded in with their fun moments while heavily emphasizing that this game is still very much a work in progress. Most of them have tens of thousands of hours on Paradox games and Florry has 35k, they know what they're talking about as regards the game. I see no problem with giving streamers the game in this early stage: their entire job is to make things digestible to a mass audience and generate hype, all of which is perfectly in Paradox's interest. I am 100% convinced that if we got an early access in this stage, the forums would be instantly filled with threads saying such drivel as "THIS GAME IS GOING TO FAIL", "This game is unplayable", (from people who don't understand the concept of a beta prerelease) or "Paradox hate wide players" which would drive a massive wave of unhelpful and truly dismal reviews. I personally have thousands of hours in EUIV and have done WC several times: am I better than some of the streamers from a purely gameplay point of view? Probably, but that doesn't mean I should have the game in my hands. I'm not someone who is good at phrasing thoughts and providing coherent focused feedback like they are, which is why they indeed have it and I do not.

Tangentially related, I have absolutely no time for Ludi and am shocked he got access to this game early. He is a sensationalising content creator who has no desire to actually display the game in a nuanced and comprehensible way: he only wants clickbait to get as many views as possible by saying things that are at best misunderstandings and at worst literally incorrect. Driving drama to get more views on your channel is reprehensible. Even from a personal standpoint, him cheating on EU IV tutorial runs and trying to justify it as "it's just a tutorial, I never said I did it legit this time" was completely ridiculous, and his general demeanor is very offputting.

2k hours? Ah so you've finished the tutorial, congrats!
