867, Kirghiz Khanate. I have a young son that I designate heir, and chose a concubine (which isn't his mother) as my regent. On succession, she is immediately displaced by my oldest son (I know she was regent for a moment because my young son, as whom I now play, has a regent hook on her). Why?
In this case, my son is just as capable and selfless, but he might as well have been selfish. So why was my regent just thrown out the window?
Played around with the console some and it seems my eldest son, independent of who is appointed regent, landed sibling or not, gets an event on the death of my ruler and gets the regency. There's no pop-up about the designated regent ever being in place, despite the hook.
Seems like a broken mechanic. Why bother telling me to appoint a selfless regent for my underage heir if my selection has no impact whatsoever?
