Hello Cities: Skylines players,

Since the release of the Detailers patch, we’ve spent the last five months working hard on the Bridges & Ports DLC, and towards our upcoming expected release. After reviewing the content ourselves and sharing it with our early access group, we’ve received consistent feedback: the bridges are super exciting, and the port works well, but there are aspects of the expansion that are not as polished as they could be.

That left us with a difficult choice: delay the release once again to add more depth, or release it as-is, knowing players may feel it falls short. We believe the current content is enjoyable, but we’re not blind to what’s missing, and to bring it to the level you deserve, we need more time.

The free update that was intended to come alongside Bridges & Ports will release on June 11th, with a bit of content that gives a slight sneak peek of what is to come in the expansion. In the meantime, we’re assessing feedback from our early access group and mapping out what we want to improve when the expansion launches - which we are now expecting in Q4 of this year.

That said, this is still a beautiful expansion, and we’re excited about what it will add to your city. We just want to ensure it adds enough to meet your deservedly high expectations.

The full patch notes for the free update will be shared on June 11th, together with the release of the patch. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of the free assets included to enhance your waterfronts.

2 New Bridges
Including Combination bridge:
• Four-Lane Highway Double Train Track Double-Decked Extradosed Bridge
• Double Train Track Truss Arch Bridge

3 Leisure Piers
Piers are shoreline/harbor assets created using the net tools. They are divided into leisure and
industrial piers.

3 Quays
Quays are a way to beautify the cities' shorelines. Quays can be updated with trees and piers can connect to them. Container Crane can be placed over the Cargo Port Quay that is designed to be wider than normal quays to work with the Reach Stackers. Quays work similarly to other roads in that buildings can be snapped to them when the zoning grid is visible.

Another delay without proper explanation, any teaser about new features, or even an update on the Asset Editor, is just so disappointing. It’s been months you didn’t share any news.

Enjoy your summer vacation, your fan base won’t forget this move.

"Not as polished", but delayed untill Q4? That's a huge delay. I wonder what's wrong or not working if it need such a big work. Would be great to have some sneak peaks of the DLC. At least I hope the delay it's worth and you add some more life to piers, marinas, and other stuff, to have for example yatches going their on way to give life to rivers, lakes and sea.

It's this patch coming with another things (fixes, updates of mechanics or features), or can we wait for another patch before summer?

I'm grateful for the news and the communication, but guys, what's going on? Why is it taking so long to develop something that was already previously planned? How many developers are working on the game? I can't believe that a team of 20 people isn't able to release a DLC that was already scheduled and has already been delayed several times.
I would appreciate knowing whether you still intend to keep developing the game in the coming years, or if your plans have changed and now only a small team is working to deliver what was previously promised.

This game is and was a waste of money and time. I feel bad for the people that still belive in this. For almost 2 years the dlc being delayed " JUST TO MAKE SURE IT MEETS THE EXPECTATIONS".

The expectations was to deliver what you have promised.

It feels like many employees left CO and only a skeleton crew is working on the game, I would not surprised if the game gets abandoned and the studio closed at this point.

Maybe it is not the case but that's how it feels from the exterior

Thanks for sharing the news, at least I heard that the game is still alive.

Personally, it's not critical for me that you postpone the release of DLC or updates, I used to be more bothered by the silence. Now I don't really care about CS2 anymore.
But please hire a person to communicate with the audience. Because this silence, personally, made me just not play the game and I won't buy DLC, because I don't understand what the future of Cities: Skyline 2 and I don't want to spend my money on you, with your attitude towards players

Will there be a fix included in this free patch for the major industry/economy bugs resulting in companies not profiting or exporting? We have an 8 page thread going on about it and it would be great to know if its being worked on.

Delay after delay, and now you throw us a “sneak peek” like it’s a gift? It honestly feels like you’ve stopped caring about the players who believed in you.

Insane. More delays, less details with each content progress update (the only update we’re getting it seems) and a base game that still is unfinished. Is there just one person maintaining and developing features for this game? Because it definitely feels like it. Also, why even bother making these types of updates? Each time there’s a progress report it’s all delays and not even a mention of features we actually want. Can’t wait for a good competitor to be available so I can finally enjoy a complete game instead of wasting money on whatever this mess has evolved into.

Hmm. Raises more than one question.

Good to have an update, but...

If you have been working hard over the last 5 months on _DLC_ and it still doesn't meet the expectations, what were you planning to release back in 2024 then?

Another option of course is to release as is _with_ clear information that this is beta release and you will keep updating the DLC to its full extent over the next xx months.

That comes with risks, but at least it wouldn't mean yet another delay.

insanely disappointing. you need more people and focus on the asset editor because EVERYONE only wants that right now. instead of making empty promises that clearly cant be fulfilled, please just be honest and talk about the status

So, the expansion was supposed to come out on 11 June.... very much a shame, I was hugely looking forward to it. I specifically waited with the seaport construction for this exact addition.

I don't quite understand - you took 5 months to make the add-on, and now it takes another six months to polish it? Then what state is it in?

At least write down what, apart from bridges and ports, this add-on is supposed to change? Is it industry, is it water mechanics, maybe other natural disasters?

Give at least an update on what's with the Asset Importer.
The game has changed a lot in the last 1.5 years, it's really close to expectations... as it should be on release.

Over a year ago, you promised better communication after acknowledging that communication had been poor with players and had been part of the growing disappointment with the launch of CS2:

"Looking ahead, we also want to make immediate and meaningful changes in the way we approach the game’s development and our communication with you. We want to better involve you, the community, as we choose our priorities going forward".

Now, after four months of total silence, you have waited until the very last minute to post an update on why the DLC has been delayed. There is zero comment on the asset editor, the feature you know players are most excited about, and you have only committed to a vague deadline of "Q4 this year".

While I have always has sympathy with the dev team that you are working hard, your communications has been consistently awful. You are harming the reputation of CO and CS2 by continually ignoring the community of players and by always doing the bare minimum to communicate.

You know that the community has lots of unanswered questions, from the asset editor status to bug fixes, but you choose to ignore them at every turn. Why have you not bothered to create a proper roadmap with regular communications updates for players like so many other games provide?

You could temper expectations and build trust with players through better communication, but you elect not to do so at every turn and its so disappointing

Totally agree.
If you can’t deliver the Expansion in time (again), please at least give some respect to your fanbase and share more informations. We’d like to know what you’re working on, what features are being polished, what new exciting stuff we can expect to see sometime before next Christmas.
