Q: Will there be WMD:s?
A: Yes. One possible "ending" for the mod is a total nuclear war, made possible by enabling nuking like in MDS2 and nations use their nuke stocks in the short hours. Nukes will be VERY effective and nothing will grow in a province struck by nukes of 2200's.
so like 100 megatoners?

Add Quebec! would make Canada a bit different... it would likely side with the EU (its trade are already importants with Europe, but if the USA had decayed so much it would likely enter EU's sphere of influence).

Large hydroelectrical power plants already exist here but there is the potential for something HUGE in the future- it could be the local energy dealer (already export alot of energy in the NE US states).

And why the South Coast of the St-Lawrence is alway given to the US or to some other country? I live there and I can tell you that the population here have much more to share with the peoples of the other side of the river. This river has alway been more a mean of communication than a border.

I beleive it would be interesting in the region. A free Vermont too, while we are at it. :)

Edit: Also I beleive that the whole thing would make more sence if the modern borders would be more respected. Following WW2 no huge changes happened, I see no reason why nationalities would mix up so much.

True. I added some Canada to USA to make it look smoother but I shall un-do that matter.

I don't know exactly how big is that, but yes, it'll be big booms that reduce everything in province to 0.

Biggest nuclear weapon ever detonated, the Soviets' Tsar Bomba, had a yield of 50 megatons. :)

I don't mind any bleeding borders as long as you can back it up with a convincing backstory. :)

Maybe interceptor can be air superiority? Like in MDS.

CVL should still be in, I think.

Looks very interesting, but I don't exactly see the logic in creating so many US countries, unless they're intended to be very quickly re-absorbed by the US or some other power. Keep in mind that more countries always means more slow-down, more events, etc. I like the Boston metropolis area, though.

As for Europe, looking good. I'm wondering what dissent is like in some of those EU regions, and their cores.

For Asia, I'd resist the urge to make China into 10 or so different states. It'd be much easier to make it into something resembling two or three different warring factions for control of China, all relatively powerful but with different aims. Easier events, too. It'd also be interesting if, eventually, countries could mount expeditions into Africa for resources, or creating secret redoubts.

All in all, looking good, but keep focused on the big picture.

Cool

Wow a great idea for a mod, without going too Fallout-ish or classic Russia vs USA.

My thoughts:

The situation in Europe and America is somewhat logical, situation in Africa is sad...
What i can't understand is why Israel got absorbed by the GA, they wouldn't have joined Arabs even if the world became individualistic.

Alaska... what is happening there? When Middle East ran out of oil i suppose they were pushed to drill more, thus making more money and attracting people so i suppose there is urban areas in there too.
When the world got worse they must have cut the fuel supply to everyone who's wallet was at risk, they must have build an advanced army to protect themselves and went towards a more isolationist politic.

Could we get a pic of Asia's status?

About Indonesia:
They have oil, coal and other metals in Borneo and Papua - new guinea and a little in Sulawesi and Sumatra.
They want Malay-Brunei-Sarawak controlled Borneo and full Papua - new guinea (not everyone but most adults i know want it).
Plus the current president say that Indonesia will be worlds 3rd economical power (*cough*yearight*cough* but true).
There is also currently ~200 million people living in Indonesia, so i expect that this number will be multiplied by 4, so a large manpower reserve and lots of urban areas.
Indonesia could go ww2 japan style and invade countries around for national pride and for economical purposes.

EDIT: And what about korea, was there a final showdown or did the situation just disolve?

1) It's splitup of USA that has happened a while ago. Yes, they are going to be annihilated by USA very soon. I made them to give USA something to do while waiting for other major stuff to happen.

2) Nationalism, or what is left of it. There are increasing number of people resisting the EU power in Iberia and Benelux. Plus resistance is extremely high in areas that are waiting for their correct owner, such as West Germany or South-West Norway.

3) China is split to 2 "Chinas", one "real" China and other China located mainly in coast. Other areas have been split with neighbouring countries.

4) Thanks. As soon as I finish the map, which will happen in around week hopefully, I will "release" the mod so other people can contribute as well.

1) Damn, forgot that completely! I should place a "Final stronghold" Israel in where it's currently located.

2) Alaska has stayed loyal to USA, for now.

3) As we know, oil will run out from world in 50-100 years. In 2260, it's been some time since last drop of (natural) oil was pumped. The arabic-speaking nations united at the last drops in order to guard the oil, but when it was over they had to find other ways for wealth. They have, and are pretty wealth people still.

4) Sure I'll make one.

5) Good idea, Asia needs local superpower too!

6) They united peacefully during mid-21st century and have taken the lead in Asian economy. They also control some parts of Machuria, which they occupied in East Asia War (same idea as with pre-WW2 Japan).

**********************

The making of map will take a while for these reasons:

3) I am totally unexperienced at making .inc files, and that causes problems with scenario files. All I can do is to look ID's from my ID map (built from Ederon's interactive) and delete all vanilla information about provinces and army.
2) I first listen to suggestions made by you so I don't have to hit brakes too often. For now I have done about 70% of Europe. Africa will have only 3-4 nations and S-America will have 2 so they will be fast.

Maps Of Asia

Asia will look something like this:

Some countries have eaten others so that there won't be too many countries (thanks for noting that Metroid17!)

asiasmallqy7.png

It's small pic since Imageshack has problems when uploading large pictures. I hope you can see the details from that pseudo-map.

PLUS: - Romania will be independent and Transilvania will be given to it.
- Mexico's holdings in USA will be decreased.
- Canada will have it's 1949 borders, but it will probably be sliced too.

For Africa, I got these suggestions for the countries there:

- Three equally sized countries that hold certain areas of Africa. Such as South Africa will have all of Africa's "thin line" and so on.
- There are several countries located in African coast, and Africa's inland will be filled with a Wilderness nation that as no role in game and it's provinces are someway unpassable (such as 0% infra) and cannot be invaded.

I had imagined some kind of authoritarian/corporative/medical nation from senegal to namibia, kinda like in the movie ultraviolet.

Whatever afrika turns up to be, i can see a white racist government and some revolts resulting from very harsh living conditions.

What about Africa being 3 factions;

1. African Union, the beacon of legitimate government in Africa, trying to stay on the Free Minded (democratic) path.

2. A Union of Warlords, heavily financed by corporations, sucking of resources and treating the civilian population poorly.

3. I was thinking something like a Multinational Corporation that have taken over parts of Africa with the power of Private Mercenary Brigades. Just like the warlords these suck up the resources to get rich, while giving rats about the local population.

Hey! What about South America ?!
Make my Brazil a big evil regional superpower!
Nice plans and ideas so far though, will there be events for resettling Africa?

- I don't really know how should Canada be balkanized. There are no ethnic minorities, no historical states (except Quebec, ofcourse) so it would rely on imagination quite much. But I'll consider it.

Actually, Quebec has never been a "Historic state", Newfoundland is the only part of Canada which was ever really "independent", being it's own dominion until after the Second world war, and if you count "Responsibly government" as independence, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick both had responsible government longer than Upper and Lower Canada (Ontario and Quebec).

But you could easily Balkanise Canada. Add British Columbia to American Columbia (Washington), Add the Maritimes to New England, Alberta and Saskatchewan to Some midwest country, Manitoba and Ontario as a country, Quebec, minus the north bit, which should include Labrador as the country of Nunavik. Ofcourse Newfoundland should be indepedent.

About China you may want to take a page from the Diamond Age, and have the divide between a Commerce minded Union of Republics and a Confucian ideology based Kingdom in the centre.

Speaking of which, someone should totally make a strategy game based on the Diamond age.

OK, looking at your setup in Asia:

- If you're going to put Vietnam and Laos together, why not add Cambodia too? Just make it Indochina. Otherwise, the setup you have now looks weird to me.
- Maybe Pattani (Singora in-game) could start as part of Indonesia Magna? That leads to a defensive pact between the Philippines, Thailand, and maybe Indochina, to counter growing Indonesian power?

Hey the conqueror, I liked your idea... Maybe the brazil would probably finally tried to take the gas in bolivia or something... I think everybody knows that, if Lula (us president) was a little bit expansionist, he would have already invaded it with the Bush suport in case of a Venezuelan front... Without any ofence with one of our goody neighbours of course...:D
I think we would probably got engaged in that war, like the ww1 and 2... I think with a nuclear war and after that, brazil would probably got separated in 3... the south, the northwest and a invaded amazon (after that "great" UN idea of an international amazon or maybe a expansionist peru or bolivia) but probably a totalitary leader got the power and tryed to reunnificate the Brazil... and takes the guianas and uruguay... but that's just a idea, I need a annother brazilian view... :D So, help me. Oh, and man, where are you from here, in the "motherland"?

@ Lord Finish's Asia:
Malaysia and Singapore should still be independent (and Brunei too but the province is too big).

Some kind of South East Asian alliance? Against a very belligerent Indonesia.
There is currently an economical Organization, called the A.ssociation of S.outh E.ast A.sian N.ations, that helps make standardized customs rules and stuff to facilitate trade in SE Asia. We could rename it A.lliance of SEAN and put it in the game as a secondary alliance if the main are already taken.

The war could start because Indonesia:
-Bought Pattani from Thailand (could add some resources in there).
-Finished unifying Borneo: annexed Brunei and Sarawak (oil there).
-Asked the surrender of Singapore (big port, vp and ic hot spot).
-Or all of the above in the same order.

Hmmh, might go too much sci-fi but I'll see. Country setup will happen after map is complete, so there is time.

Nice plans and ideas so far though, will there be events for resettling Africa?

South america will be simple: South American Union that contains all Spanish-speaking SA countries (read: No Brazil) and it will experience a civil war (unionist vs. independist). Brazil is better than it's today, and will play a great role in the civil war (it can choose which side to support), otherwise Brazil's role is currently unclear.

Canada idea sounds very good. I'll take that.

For China, yes the coastal country will be a commerce-centered country, built around the rich cities. The inner country is still the good ol' authotarian China, although Communism has 'disappeared'.

Not (directly) relating to Brazil posts, but I can't make all forumite homelands superpowers. They gotta have potential to it, as of 2008. Brazil has problems with poor vs. rich, and the country would need decades to rise in such state as modern European state for example. But since Brazil will be on it's continent with either large and clumsy USSA or the original bunch of smaller states, it will have it's days.

I decreased small countries' amounts in order to make the mod include less countries. Too many countries cause lag, and more will come if EU and USSA split up completely. Otherwise, post's idea can be put into use.

Could someone help me with problem stated there? Would help making scenario files.

Why not make Southeast Asia ASEAN. Who knows, maybe that purely economic organization in the future has become a political union.

Add Ireland, have a Irish- Scottish alliance against the evil English (Britain can still hold Ulster), and we'll have a modern Braveheart scenario! Make the Scottish leader to suspiciously look like Mel Gibson!:D

About oil, honestly, there would be no oil left in the 2260s, so one early task for each nation could be finding alternatives to oil. Those who are successful would of course have an early advantage over the others.

An Arab Federation would be nice too, the Arab world spins from Iraq to Morocco.

About Mel Gibson...
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
But yeah, you're wright. I think in that time the oil should begin to vanish in the world or we could replace it for... etanol? So, there should be some events all around the world like : Where is the oil? or The oil is vanishing! with some dissidence following...
But them I began to think about the leaders and the mininsters... They are from an alternative future, so or we can use a time machine to go there or we will have to make them... Mj. General Spellmann... hum...:D
But this is not important now... we need now to finish the scenario...
