The only two problems I have with core is, the Tech trees seem quite a bit nutty to me, lol, and 2. I don't really enjoy the new unit icons, I can never remeber which is which! lol, but I love the new events and every thing else, thanks for the makers of it!

1- takes some time to get used to - usually a game or two. There certainly is a plan behind it all though - I can assure you it's pretty accurate. ;)
2- there is some SKIFF conversion lurking around somewhere on this subforum, which might be of interest to you. We use the NATO symbology ourselves, which have a fanbase of their own (me for one). But the two camps are pretty evenly matched. We are thinking about adding the SKIFF icon set to the installer as an extra option, but that's still in the future.

Yay! Thanks!

I just broke down and downloaded a bunch of graphics for regular ole' HOI2 would they work in CORE?

spotted so far

The tech tree is quite interesting; but, when I click on one it doesn't show up at the bottom of the screen where there is a gap fgor it to be displayed in. Is there any way of moving the "gap" to the bottom of the screen and the tech tree at the bottom up?

When I click on overall tech opposite TP it says "unknown string wanted."

Not 1:1... But we have our own graphics packs to iron out those glitches. The CORE in Color pack is specifically designed to use in conjunction with GIP, for one.

Where exactly do you put the graphic folders?
Our own graphics is in the mod-CORE2\gfx folder - that way it overrules any Vanilla images where needed.

Was some time since i played CORE but if I remember correctly it is hard to understand what techs you need to research beforehand if they aren't in the same Tech-area. (INF/ARM/INDU etc).

I also agree with the icons.
Why force NATO icons upon people?
Nato icons seem pretty easy to make and build so why not just put those as the "Counter" option while having normal graphics for the other option?

Or did I perhaps forget to change from counter to normal? xD

I took a look at some of the images, and it just has a little sign that says CORE2 Dummy image, is that normal?

The "CORE2 Dummy Images" get placed in the vanilla folders, to enable the real CORE graphic files to be read by the game engine. To see tha actual CORE graphic files, you need to look in the gfx sub-folders inside the "mod-CORE" folder.

We're trying to supply guidance to that in the manual for 0.4.0.

All a matter of taste. We're not forcing any choice of icons, in any case, only supplying NATO symbology out of the box and leaving the rest of icon alternatives to the modding community. :D But all jest aside, I personally find the NATO symbols intuitive and most of Paradox players will understand them, given their interest in the game. I know of several mods that give highly artistic alternatives to the original icons of the game (not usable to CORE 1:1 due to our different model setup), with SKIF being a top favorite. But they're on a level I myself at least won't be able to even come near, so we leave that to others that can.

Which is exactly why they're labeled that way... They are dummies, nothing more, nothing less. They're not meant to overwrite any existing (Vanilla) images, and just placeholders for any additional images we use in order to have the game engine load them. We fully support moddir, and as such try to use the mod-CORE2 folder rather than the original Vanilla folders for our very own stuff. That way you're still able to play Vanilla as well as CORE from the same install. That you're unlikely to do so after trying CORE is not important - it's a matter of principle. :D
