Captalists and aristocrats, etc (even down to clercks) will die over some years because they use up all the cash and don't get new one even on low tax setting. So when I just tested 1.03 with a Sweden GC I ended up with only craftsmen, soldiers. labourers and farmers, beacuse they were the only one who could afford sustainable goods. In other words: An inverted social famine.

Here is a related discussion of this issue from 1.02.

I posted this in another thread, but it is relevant to repost this here:

DoctorPlague - I have been unable to replicate the situatin you describe in terms of dying POPs. Testing as Sweden in the GC, I set all taxes to 50%. Although the cash reserves did run out, the upper- & middle-class POPs continued to grow, & there was no significant emigration from Sweden. Was there anything else you were doing to cause the size of your POPs to decrease?

Ok, now I was told they did not actually die, they just devolved because the tax rate was above 50% at some point... anyway, when I try at any setting the upper class become the poorest. Sorry for making a new thread about it! Seems it's not neccessary with this one. :eek:o

I managed to replicate the problem with Prussia. I was running taxes at about 60% and by 1840 I had no middle or upper class. None, nada, zip. Ran it again with taxes at about 40% and didn't end up with a worker's paradise, though I did go bankrupt.

Its not a problem or a bug - don't tax the middle or upper classes above 50%. Period.

Well, I don't agree. Now I managed to replicate it using a tax below 50%.
I set it about 45%, while the poor strata had a much higher rate. When I got to the 1847 crisis I had already educated a few capitalists in Svealand, they had very low subsistence goods rate and no cash, some rebelled and was killed, and I remember a particular pop of above 1000 capitalist just vanishing. And I never taxed them 50%. So I think this is a problem...
