Hi,

I can get max about 20 spies each as Germany to France or the UK which gives a steal tech chance of about 8 or 9 % (+-3% due to modifiers). I think in my last game I was able to steal 3 techs over the course of 4 years at 100% espionage spending. Which is a complete waste of IC.

Although espionage is now completely useless in 1.04, it is fair in a way because the AI still has no capability of using it at all.

If the current system is so broken that the AI cannot be programmed to use it to the SAME ABILITY as the player, then it should be scrapped and re-implemented. Or, my own opinion, just scrapped and and the developers can work on more important parts of the game.

I do not even use espionage.

I usually (playing as Germany 1936) send spies in the following order of priority:
  1. Germany
  2. UK
  3. USSR
  4. France
  5. USA

I rarely, if ever, devote more than a slider setting of 20 for espionage (usually starting out at around 15).

All I am trying to accomplish is to prevent the ocassional attempt at sabotage by the Commintern or the Allies, and to have enough spies in my enemies camps to gain a decent idea of what they are up to and what their relative strengths are.

You're correct: espionage is worthless in AoD.
