How likely is 1.06 to create anomalies or crashes if I continue a saved game (want to finish an AAR)?

don't know for sure, haven't tried it yet (just got home).
I guess, if it's the same as with earlier patches, that the combination should work fine.
Just don't report on any new bugs untill you start a fresh game
.
Also, new leaders etc. will not show up if you reload a saved game from an earlier version.

You can still play with old savegames, but not all new fixes are guaranteed to work
