Having a bit of a problem with v1.07. The installation goes smoothly and everything. After choosing the scenario, etc. when I hit the Start button, all goes blank and then shoots me back into Windows. No error message or anything, as if it were perfectly natural. I've uninstalled everything related to EUII and reinstalled, but I get the same result. Is this a known problem and/or is there a known solution?

btw, I'm operating XP, 1.8GHz, 256MB, DirectX9.0, and all that jazz... If there's some other specific spec you might need to diagnose and prognose, just let me know.

My first guess is some sort of problem with the Binkplayer not unloading correctly after the intro clips. Try renaming your avi folder to avi_old and that will probably solve the problem.

If not, let me know and we'll go from there (at which point I'll need the makes and models your sound card and video cards and what driver versions you've got installed).

My pleasure.

Happy conquests. :)

Same problem

I have the same problem, I have installed the 1.07 and the game goes through the intro movie fine and gets to the main screen, then screen goes black, then CTD.
OS is Windows XP Pro, 384MB Ram, 766mhz, 50x speed CD-Rom, I did earlier today install the service pack 1 and other critical updates though. I will try your suggestion as per the other person though.

CTD

I renamed the avi file "avi_old" and it works fine now. I just have one question though. I t was working fine until today, what could have caused this, could it have been the service pack and other critial updates that i installed?. Thanks

Yep...entirely possible isnce there has been a recent update for both WinXP and DX9.0a.

Well i dont know if i have the same problem, but also running winXP pro and latests directX.
However my game starts normal, but after some 10 years i get ctd. I had just installed 1.07 english edition (is this the correct one for Holland btw?).
I'll try renaming the avi folder (again) and let you know if that helps. Do you have any other tips?

REnamed avi folder but didnt work. During the game (usually around 143-) I just crash to the desktop without any message.
My system:
WinXP pro (US)
Intel pentium 4 Cpu 2.52 GHz
128 DDR ATI RAdeon 9700TX
Latest DirectX 9.something
UK version of EU2

As you can start the game you clearly have a different problem than this thread.

Please start a fresh thread with your own details, "me too" posts like this just confuse everything. Thanks.

Thanks. I'll be home this evening and will be able to have a look at it then.

Ok back at home again. I seem to have fixed it myself, by downloading latest driver for my video card (and not running msn messenger during EU;)).
So no need anymore for a new thread:)

Okay, sorry for the delay, MrT is away for awhile.
Running background Apps is never a "good" idea when playing a game.
