OK. For 2 different persons under windows XP, following the same install procedure as other people on other windows (in fact, one of those persons is me on my old and on my new computer and in the new one it works as i use a more modern windows), the issue was the same:

Windows XP, latest upgrades before it got obsolete. 1.09 works smoothly, 1.10 gets installed, including microsoft required update with the correct processor.

You click on aod.exe...: Same message (for him in Hungarian and me in Spanish)

Translation would sound like this:

AoD Game.exe - Cannot find entry point

The GetThreadId procedure entry point not found in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll

Verfieid again: Windows XP SP 3 is installed. I believe the other guy also mentioned he had SP 3 too.

Hi @Urko , did you and your friend install the NEW visual c++ library's? Just asking to limit the possability's.

As the lack of x86(32bit) or installing only x64(64bit) will crash the game at launch and is fixed by installing the x86(32bit).

Hi Zsumi, yes we have installed it.

Hi Denniss, the link is death and if I google for it microsoft website offers me the version which is currently installed.

Try this executable, please. I have not had time to set up a Windows XP VM, sadly, but this might be enough; if not I'll have another idea to try out.

Tested, and it worked yet got an odd checksum.

Then tested again on a fresh install (1.09, + 1.10 + .newexe): EQPW

Problem is now solved.

So thanks again Tzar and others. Guess the issue is closed now.

Hrgh. I am no king. You do not want me to be a king either, rest assured.

Anyway, glad to read that it works. A surprising amount of people seems to be under the impression that GetThreadId is available in Windows XP - but evidently it is not, as removing that call was all I did.
