Well I started playing with a friend when people began swarming into the game. I was glad and we ha da shit load of fun, tho after the first couple of joins desynch errors have begun to occur exactly after every new hot join.
eventually we decided to rehost. Apparently a lot of weird stuff had happened to the other players. I was unaffected as host ( probably cause it was my savegame). shortly after we continued the desynchs returned :(

Been having the same type of issue... Except mine isn't just on Hot Join... After a certain point it just seems to desynch for me and a friend. Hot Joining was the quick fix and now after every Hot Join the game instantly desynchs. Anyone else having issues?

Edit- Also playing on latest version 1.2.1 [20fe]

Regarding Desync issues after hotjoin alot of bugs besides desync , unable to move colony ships, start constrution of ships and all kinds of non clickable options.

- Kicking a person due to for instance desync/causing puse in game crash whole game.
-hotjoin still have serious issues in my opinion loosing player when player is out of sync, and also to able to see which game is starting or running.

(v1.2.1 20fe)

this has clearly to do with the complexity of the gam eincreasing as time progresses.

So far the best way to keep the game stable after a hot join is to not force play after pressing the start button and just let it continue by itself.... which can take a very long time...
But none of that will help if you're too far into the game. It doesn't even seem to matter how many players are connected I even had desynchs hapen when it was just the two of us.... Ruined an entire 20 hour savegame for us and we were just about to drive the scourge away :(
