Same issue after installing 1.2 patch

I have reinstalled the game twice and updated every possible driver. I am getting a runtime error when launching the game. Any suggestions?

I split you into your own thread, as you may or may not have the same problem at the thread you "me too" posted in.

Your DXDIAG looks fine. Please post your settings.txt and system.log files. And, can you describe your exact problem in as much details as possible, thanks.

When launching the game from the startup screen. E.G. (get update, register, start game), after choosing to start the game I get a windowed "microsoft visual c++" error which states the following: This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

System.log would not attach. So I have copied it here for you.

You have not successfully installed the 1.2 patch, so please do that.

Also edit settings.txt and set refreshRate = 85

I cannot install the patch, everytime I run it whether as an administrator or not it tells me that 1.2 is already installed. Yet when I check the .exe file it shows me 1.0?

I have uninstalled the game twice. Reinstalled the retail box version 1.0 which runs fine, except for the bugs, but it runs. I download 1.2 patch and then no luck.

Any work around?

OK, you must have had multiple installations, or moved the game after installing so the registry is pointing to the wrong directory.

Uninstall the game completely, and manually delete the game directory (and the remnants of any other installations that are left around). Now run regedit and search the registry for any mention of Rome (or Paradox, apart from any installations of other PI games you might have, like EU3 or whatever) and delete them.

Now install Rome fresh, but not in the suggested path of c:\program files\paradox ... etc; instead use a new path like c:\game\rome or whatever. Then apply 1.2 immediately afterwards.
