I have just played a game as UK in which Germany did nothing other than invade Yugoslavia. I notice that patch 1.3b may fix this problem but I am unsure how to extract the rar files to the correct file in HOI2. can someone please advise.

Use a program that understands how to process .rar files (like WinRAR or ZipGenius), and then simply use the extract function. When asked for a folder, point it to your main hoi installation folder. Make sure you have the option checked that tells the decompressor to retain folder names.

THe EXE did not change.

I never see anything like 1.3aJLwhatever when I start a game.

I know I downloaded 1.3 patch from paradox, and I went and downloaded the 1.3b which I know would not show anyhow BUT I really want to be SURE I have 1.3b in there, what's the easiest way to tell? I used Winzip that recognizes .rar files and I did direct it to the main HoI2 folder and used the proper options but... I really just wanna be sure...

Well, did winzip ask you if it was ok to overwrite files?

If so, then you have installed it correctly.

I think it did. Not many though but I know it asked me at LEAST once. Thanks though because now I'm sure it's in there right, I got my answer in another thread. Thanks for the help!

YOu could always look in the compressed file and see the dates and times of the files then make sure those files are the same in your install folder.

Is it true that after you install 1.3b the USSR units get almost invincible?

Another question: From what I understand, Doomsday is an addon. Does that mean i have to somehow remove 1.3b or reinstall the game completely before i install Doomsday?

1) We do not answer gameplay questions in this forum, it is for Hardware and driver tech support only. PLease ask gameplay questions in the general forum.
2) Doomsday isa standalone add-on meaning you do not even need the original game to play or more correctly the original is included in the game. So no worries about what patch your current install is, you may even want to just uninstall your current version.

Thanks for clearing things up.

Patch thinks that HOI2 is not installed.

New issue. I downloaded patch 1.3a and attempted to install it and recieved the inexplicable (to me) notification that HOI2 is not installed. I thought that was odd since, well, I can start the game and get it running. So, I thought if I "uninstalled" (via the command on the disk) the game and then reinstalled it, I could get things rolling. Wrong. I press the uninstall button and I get a quick pic of a "demoshield" pic and then nothing. So I manually deleted the Paradox Interactive folder and attempted to reinstall it. Wrong. The install command is not available via the disk. The "install shield" folder in program files is empty. Short of taking a magnet to my computer and reinstalling EVERYTHING, what else can I do?
