1.8.6 CTD after launch on Mac

Description​

1.8.3 worked fine for me that I played with MacOS 15.1 ; But now I have updated Victoria 3 to 1.8.6 and I have updated MacOS to 15.2 ; And now it CTD every single time after launching. I click 'Play' in launcher, then it displays 'Initializing Game', then it crashes after 5-6 seconds.

My last saved game is from 1.8.3, but I don't click 'Resume', I click only 'Play'.

Steps to reproduce​

1. Click 'Play' in launcher
2. Crashes during loader

I don't see a reason for this crash in those files, unfortunately!

IF IT USED TO WORK:
Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3/
To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings files, error logs, saved games, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/ .


Does that help? If not please revert to 1.8.3 or .4 in the Steam betas tab for the game - does that then work?

Thank You, @AndrewT ! The steps you provided worked perfectly. The only downside I encountered was losing all my game settings, including notifications, tooltips, and graphics, which I had grown accustomed to. Now, I have to rediscover my preferences.
