We have claims to the title Count of Paradox, Count of Paradox, Count of Paradox

Multiple instances of the same claim can be had and don't self-filter.

So did we decide if this is WAD or a bug or just a weird "feature"?

There is no question that it is a bug, IMO. As you say, it is *spam* on any screens where claims are shown or described.

Some of the posts in this thread have touched upon causes. Claims can be derived from being a potential inheritor (all the sons *think* they deserve to inherit regardless of law or somesuch). Events can fire a claim. Game activities, such as results and such, can create a claim.

The bottom line is that any given character that has a claim on something only has the one claim - more than one is ugly in how it is represented in the game. Presumably, there are not consistent *guards* in the *grant claim* processes to avoid adding a claim where one already exists - and thereby avoiding the visual mess. A look at a save file shows that the *title* section shows that a check for multiple claims is, "in principle", easy...

However, none of my co-mods have expressed a hard opinion...

well if you think it is a bug how come you haven' put it in the bug list? :D

you lazy bugger!!! :D

I am a lazy sod... ;)

And, my *emeritus* status grants me the privileges of letting you and GH do all the work. :p

[seriously, great job! And, erghm, I don't know how to update the bug list properly. :eek:o That is, I'm a lazy sod for not figuring it out. :D Oi!, and how come the thread hasn't been renamed? :p]

From what I see, pretty much everyone in the succession box gets claims when the guy dies. Works great when you're 3rd in line for your brother's duchy and his darn son inherits.

Very historically correct. Just spammy when you get 3-6 of the same claim.

With elective law, who gets the claims? Your relatives or the heir (who could be from another dynasty)? I recall one of my characters getting claims when he was elected king of Sweden; would the family keep them even if they lose the kingdom, or only claims gained through inheritance?
