All new characters, AI included don't get any Character Traits. The exception is when they are assigned a Disease

I haven't seem the either, but didn't think of it as a bug until I read it in the manual.

I am not sure it's a bug, as traits should appaear via event during the childhood (and after) of the character...

Well, the manual says that all characters are born with 2-3 traits ...

at least in 1.02 the events are firing so it's an improvement but still the vast majority still have no traits.

Still, some like Imbred should require specific set of cirumstances that should be coded to appear at certain chances based on both parents being same family (probably even grandparents should increase this). But all birth defects should appear at birth, even if it the chances have to be hardcoded in IMO if the event sequence can't handle them properly.
