They have enough assets to fear/stun it it quickly both by airstrike (e.g., ME190 G1 with 210mm rockets) and ground attack (vet FlaK43 Zwilling, vet 88 FlaK 36/37). Praise the auto-canon god !

the AVRE + Churchil V combo make up for the fact the scot have the weakest phase A arty in the entire game. The overpriced 70 pt 2inch mortar carrier is the only arty they have in phase A.

Without the funnies combo the scott will have a hard time pushing anywhere in A. If you want to nerf the AVRE you need to give the scott better phase A arty (namely the 3inch mortar).

even the second worst division in terms of Phase A arty, the 3FJ, have a 1000m mortar.

the churchill 5 is an excellent unit, but it is not a complete replacement for the mortar. Having access to Smoke and indirect fire is invaluable and the churchil 5 can't do either of those.
I won't argue against the arty thing, but the two Brit CS are very utilitarian, and a danger if handled well...Those CS should get smoke.

Hold your horses, i never said anything about nerf.
I just say this combo is the perfect counter to some divisions in phase A.
Lehr is screwed, pak 40 and puma are the only way to do something at that time and only when you find a way to engage one without the other, no decent air force, no 88, and with arty you count on your panzerwerfer to help a bit. And with panzerfausts you have to get in range, pretty much impossible in open ground.
Fact you canno't really do shit until phase B using a tiger.

I suppose each division has its perfect counter, it is one to lehr.

This division is weak nearly everywhere in Phase A, as intended/designed and has nothing to do in close-range environment, where the AVRE is king. And bringing AVRE in "openfield" (>800m) seems a bit weird, even as bullet-sponge. It's poor speed and range make it useless, not to say weak. Just ignore it and destroy everything beyond.

It is rare you have perfect open field with lehr, with the AVRE you may contest the first positions where lehr puts at guns or infantry and go then from one treeline to the other.
Lehr is weak in 1vs1 in phase A against anything but is really decent against phase A armor rushes in teamplay (like 1st pancerna, 2nd DB) and you often play them as you both choose an open part of the map.
Yes you do not often find yourself against Scots, but it happens. And this is pretty difficult with this combo when it happens. Some maps give you more open field on one side, more close engagements in the other, you may encounter the lehr/scot opposition.
AVRE is perfect for 500-600m between two treelines as it is perfect to support in or around town pushes.
 
Y'all realize there are 3 phases in this game right? I've run people down 2/3 of the map with, say, the 101st only for them to start mauling me in B and C. If I concluded that 101 rekts because of phase A performance, you'd lol at me.

If you're suggesting the Lehr sucks because it sucks at phase A, lol

I'm not suggesting anything. And there arn't 3 full phases. If you make enough ground in phase A and keep your ground your game ends quickly in phase C cause you bring the points.
Why the starting placements are so important, why the new mode will change the game a bit, why the combo avre+churchill is so damn good against lehr in phase A.
I don't get why you all canno't just assume this combo is a counter to lehr in phase A, it is pretty obvious.
