Bastards are always male

I'd like to get a nice bastard daughter. Is it designed on purpose (like, female bastards directly go to convent and never leave, totally uninteresting for the game) ?

I'd bet its a WAD issue. In medeival eras, why would you care about your bastard daughters? AS you said - off to the convent. But a bastard son, in a pinch, might still become your heir.

Well, I think it is WAD, but I will wait for confirmation from higher up in the system.

Well, illegitimate daughters weren't always just sent off to a convent. Some achieved quite good positions. IIRC one Welsh prince married an illegitimate daughter of John of England.
So perhaps they should be considered for inclusion, though the trait Bastard would need to be renamed to Illegitimate.

I've been meaning to post a thread about this, though not as a bug. I think this is a significant factor in why there aren't enough women about (once the games fully flowing, I mean, not at the beginning, of course) and, regardless of the typical historical outcome, it could be worth having something done about it (either illegitimate daughters or less bastard sons).

Lack of women in the game (and of fair ladies on these boards :D ), is a different issue.

This particular one is WAD.

Closing.
