well you can play as china in Vicky as well. obviously you can play other nations then the one mentioned in the title, not really a valid point here.
Well still using crusader kings II as an example with the old gods the game can start over 200 years before the first crusade. The years within the game does not have to line up exactly with its namesake.
Well the pagans in the North sure had their fair share of crusader love from Europe. Just ask the Old Prussians and the Slavs.
I'm pretty sure this was done to leave room for an expansion. Since Vicky 2 didn't do so well, this expansion never got made.
True but then you could say the game should end 1901, and to keep on topic of the missing years we could then have a totally new game to cover 1901 until 1935/36
A Game focused on the 1920s would be great!
I'm not really a fan of ending Vicky 2 (or 3) any earlier than 1936 as the game is alreay short enough as it is. Instead of making another game for the early 20th century the devs should focus on how they can make the Vicky franchise better represent those years.
Change defines.lua in EUIV/common from end date 1821 to end date 1836

How so? It has gotten 2 expansions so far.
No it isn't. There would be need expand tech (which to this time would complicated), units, government forms, etc. There would be also need to add new nations, edit history, new events and decision, but yeah Vic2 would probably do it much better.
It actually did much better than they thought it would. Were you around when the CEO had a marketing prank where he was going to shave his head if the original release turned a profit? He had to shave his head during the pre-sale.
They've specifically said that they weren't adding dates besides A House Divided because the research into a Vicky bookmark is significantly more work than any of the other games because they have to build all the pops with their religions, cultures, issues, and occupations for every person on the planet and then make sure that it doesn't break the economy. The number of data points is exponentially in building a Vicky bookmark.
