Mobilization problem

Not sure if it's a bug or design prob, but why would my son, who is my vassal, who has 100% loyalty, plenty of gold to sustain a long campaign, refuse to mobilize for me when I call him to arms. Also, he is the heir to my throne so any lands I add he will inherit.

This should be reworked if it's WAD, because it makes no sense given what I've explained above. Plus he has no coward traits either. Another thing that seems to be wrong is I just spammed him 2 or 3 more times and he finally answered the call to arms. This doesn't make sense. If he's 100% loyal, has plenty of gold, not a coward & stands to gain any land you conquer after you die why not answer the call. This has happened to me on more than one occasion too.

I think this is a WAD but it's a bad one. Same thing has happend to me a milion times.

I think it's becaus the AI reacts the same as if it was a normal vassal that weren't a family member. I think there should be some diference in the way a vassal acts if he is a part of your family. It should be harder to lose his loyalty as well.

If he is really 100% loyal, I would suggest you don't ask him, and simply mobilize yourself his own troups. This way he'll have nothing to say.

Furthermore, you could put it this way : maybe he's just impatient to learn you are in a far away country without any direct support, and he prudently prefers to preserve the integrity of your realm while you are journeying. :D

This is sort of covered by giving those who are about to inherit a boost in loyalty increase.

I'm tempted to say this would be WAD, it's always good to have some randomness. Any second opinions?

I know you are going to fall over Grosshaus but I agree with you :D . The loyalty bonus for an heir who is a vassal is a good enough reflection of the loyalty you would expect. I assume various factors beyond loyalty are considered before determining if the vassal will mobilize and I think that is a good thing. It is always an unpleasant surprise for me when a vassal does not do my bidding but if it were otherwise the mood of the game would be diminished.

Also, thinking historically, sons were often the worst vassels. Think of the Lion in Winter.

But you can mobilize vassals troops by clicking the troop icon on his province, if loyalty is high enough and he never refuses that. You even get troops instantly, compared to waiting for days for vassal to answer.

I think I know what the problem is, it seems the AI is refusing to help you out when you are not at war,

in one game I had all my vassals at 100% and my badboy fairly low, so I mobilised to go on crusade... none of my vassals accepted,

so I dow'd the muslims and asked again, now everybody wanted to mobilise,

If you are not at war and/or have not mobilised troops from your demesne, chances are the AI will refuse mobilisation request. It is a WAD, and a good one - why would vassal want to send you his troops if there is no need or you don't want to put your ass on the fire line.
