Me and a friend have been playing together over the internet (not vnet) for a long time, always using the latest patches and have rarely had any troubles. But yesterday when we tried the 19 november patch, the client computer would crash when trying to connect to the host, we tried changing who was the host with no success, and I also tried with my secondary computer. we both tried re-installing our games without success. we are both using windows xp pro sp2 and the strange thing is that the whole computer crashes, not just EU2 and we had to reboot, which is very uncommon.¨

but when we both re-installed the third time and installing the 5 september beta, then everything went fine as usual.

what could be wrong ? we have no firewalls. and we were using agc-eep 1.35

I've tried some more with no success, and I've heard of many other who have had problems joining games.

Thats to do with firewall security permissions, make sure your firewalls are set to allow EU2 and its related programs access to the net, mine has a pop up window dunno what others do or how to change them. :(

I normally use Zone Alarm, and have had no troubles playing eu2 mp before. but when this problem arose, I turned off my firewall, but that did not help.

have u disabled the internal XP firewall? sometimes it has an annoying habit of blocking programs when u thought it was turned off :(

yes I have. enough with the newbie-questions, alright ? ;)

the problem exist with this patch and this patch only, we've been playing with beta patches for ages before this.

Aye indeed, I concur!

Try to remove the blank space that inserts itself after the IP address before pressing join. That worked for us in our four player MP yesterday.
I guess the trim() command on the IP address somehow got lost in this patch..

So I should just hit "delete" after I insert the ip-adress ?

EDIT: read the answer in the beta patch thread, thanks for the help! how did you come up with the solution ?

After several hours of frustration you try the weirdest things ;).

we re-installed, tried again, gave up and re-installed with earlier beta patch.

we were aching to play. but I wanted the latest patch as I had low inflation and my opponent had like 15 %

:)
