1947 Game Crash & Update Problem

I sure would appreciate some guidance on a couple of problems I'm having below:

1) For some reason, my DD crashes at "13:00 February 13 1947". Hasn't done this in other DD scenarios I've played. When I say "crash", I mean that as the entire computer locks-up, the screen freezes, and nothing works. I have to a "hard restart" to get it going again. (I'm playing as USSR, and started in '36. I got into a war with Japan early-on, and am now fighting almost all the countries in Southeast Asia. Lost a lot of territory at first, but I have my lines stabilized now and am beginning to wear them down and take territory.) Any advice? Like I said, it hasn't done this before. Up until now, DD has worked fine for me.

2) For some reason, I can't download the DD Update 1.3. When I download it, instead of saving it, I hit the "run" button. It begins to load onto my computer, but then a message comes-up that says something like "You don't have Doomsday installed on your computer. Install it first, and then download this update." Any advice?

1) Crashes on specific dates are often due to events.
You could try saveing the game just before that date and then load the game as some out of the way nation and play past that point, then save the game exit and reload as your original nation.

2)There is no 1.3 patch for DD, only 1.2.
So whatever patch you are trying to install is not made by us for DD.
 
Ok, that's what I did. I played as Germany just thru the "crash point", saved it, and then went back to the USSR. Worked fine. Thanks!

I meant the "1.2 update", instead of the "1.3" I listed originally. I got it off this site. What do I do to get it to load? I keep getting the "you don't have DD installed" message.

Finish your current game, then uninstall the game, following the manual uninstall sticky thread instructions if necessay.

Then a fresh install from CD then apply only the 1.2 patch.
If you have HOI2 regular installed as well, you may want to temporarily rename that folder before you install the patch.
